What does "Flick Mouse" mean?
Hi, I am just testing this game out and have come up against a number of instances of [FM] or "Flick Mouse". I simply don't know what it means. I tried a bunch of random mouse movements and for all I know one of them *was* [FM] but I can't tell for sure.

ANy help appreciated.

A short, fast movement of the mouse in a specific direction.

Flicking the mouse to the right, will probably involve you moving your mouse maybe a quarter of the length of your mousepad to the right.

FM also requires a button push on some control schemes. So there is a button you push (i think mine is mouse 4) then you flick in the direction you want to activate the ability.

These are directional abilities, you do not have to face the direction you want to activate it in.

Also keep in mind that you can only have 1 FM ability equipped at a time. So if you already have one in place and you try to add another it will unequip your old one and equip then new one.

Thank you both for your response.

So; how do you remap that required mouse 4 button to something else, if you only have a regular run of the mill mouse with left, right and wheel/middle?

(I assume you don't?)

[EDIT]
Ah wait. Found it. Ofcourse it would be under a completely stupidly named binding option "Archetype modifier" which makes absolutely zero sense without the context of the mouse flick evasive movement being a ship archetype specific thing.

Way to go devs...

well, to be fair, the devs are 3 people and this was their first game and made in XNA framework which is much more of a PITA to work with than something like Unity

but yea, it isn't the best name for it :P

Yes, I remember that being a little confusing, especially since I hadn't really played at all before trying to set the controls.

Then again, in the end, I wound up using that setting for about 3 seconds before deciding that keyboard turning and button-less FM suited me a lot better. So I guess it didn't really matter that much?
