Back into the Game.
So I lost my save when I re-loaded my OS.
I replayed this game over the holidays, man it's so good. Unlocked all the equipment and hulls again.

If anyone is still playing this game, I am happy to give advice on making plex, or completing achievements. I can do almost all the story levels on max difficulty and the Multiplayers modes on max difficulty.

Im comfortable with making badass ships, if you need help with that. Im best with the F class and weakest with the G class.

I just want to play it on Steam Deck. Haven't found a way to get it to work, though :(

Update: after posting the above I checked the other threads. The one called "Ring Runner Linux "HOW TO"" looks promising, with a link to https://www.protondb.com/app/258010. Will try this out soon

Yeah that's my thread. I run this game on linux right now. Protondb.com is correct, you just need to inject XNA.. but use winetricks to do it, NOT protontricks it doesn't work with that.

is winetricks as tedious as it look?

I guess so? I personally don't think so.

It's one command on the CLI. Is that tedious?

It looks like wine/winetricks needs to be installed separately on the steam deck, still navigating the best way to do that. I can confirm the XNA installation fails under protontricks currently. Thanks for the direction!

It's a single download file which can be obtained here..

https://github.com/Winetricks/winetricks

You might need normal wine installed.. I forget..

After that it's a CLI command that will look something like.

WINEPREFIX=%pathToSteamLibrary%/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/258010/pfx winetricks xna40 dotnet40 gdiplus

I was referring to the app from discovery store via Steam Deck.

These instructions aren't exactly straight forward for someone who never used winetricks.

From ProtonDB;

If an average steamdeck owner were able to run the game without the hassle of winetricks, it would be a A+ game for $5

Tinker Steps:
Custom Proton: GE, winetricks
Start game with proton 9-5 first, then follow up with installing following DLLs with winetricks; dotnet40 & xna40. then run game again after patiently installing all the DLLs.
