Where is the Akaidia Underground?

Seems like I have explored the whole map and I have not seen it.

It's in the soutwest area of Mirkland. You reach it by some kind of tentacle object.

I have been stuck for a while because I killed the King *without* talking to him and so did not get the quest to go to the underground...and you need to go there to advance the main quest line. I looted the gland from his body but had no idea what it was for. I guess the game wants you to do the "alternate method" rather than just get the King's head...
