4 shard door won't open

At the "outside" map of the northern section there are 2 doors very close to each other. One needs 3 shards (the triangle thingys you must collect), whilte the other need 4.

I have collected all 4 shards, and have yet to kill the north boss, but when I try to open the 4 shard door, it doesn't open.

Am I missing here?

It's actually an 8 shard door. The game's just not very good at clearly displaying that. For future reference, there's only 1, 3, and 8 shard doors in the game.

That doesn't make any scense. I thought only shards from the same area can open doors from that area.

in each area there's actually 8 shards, look closely and you'll find them :D
in any case there's a guide on where to find them all

I knew something was wrong. There was a mark for a 5th shard in the north area. I thought that may be it was part of the east regoin because it was half way there.

You knida spoiled that for me now :P

It's an 8 module door. you need to collect all 8 modules for the North.

Yeah, the pink guy shows you the location of 4 shards because those are mandantory for beating the game's story. However, in each 'world' there's also 4 more than won't be marked on your map.
