I wondered this too for the longest time, but after beating the game and discovering there was no way to upgrade the dash to cover longer distances I realised you could access basically all the secrets (aside from those locked behind keys, of course) right from the start. A lot of them are pretty tricky, and involve hopping across invisible platforms that can only be revealed by standing in specific spots that give you an interaction prompt.
I got stuck in a certain area where it was impossible to go back (not the first time in this game) and there was a jump in front of me that was just barely too long to make. I tried standing right at the edge and dashing or running to the edge, but nothing worked, I fell off probably 6 times and was ready to restart from my last save.
Then I decided to try dashing twice and it worked. For some reason the dash must be programmed to touch the ground farther away on it's start than it's end because starting a second dash where I would normally not reach worked.
