How do I do that unlimited dash thing?
I'm double tapping A but it just looks like a normal dash. Trying for the dash challenge.

Did you unlock the ability? Also, it's timing based, you can't mash your key.

I did unlock it. How am I supposed to time it?

It's the ability in the dash store that shows the drifter going in a triangle, and you have to either watch or listen, I got to 103 without looking at the screen using just the sound ques.... but the second door doesn't even open until 1000 dashes ; __; LOL

Yeah, that's the abilityI have. Does it work in the air for platforming?

As Neterim stated, its based on timing so button mashing doesnt work. Also note that the timing changes and gets quite fast quickly.

No, it doesn't. At least to my knowledge

Not that I'm aware of, I think in the really REALLY old demo it did kind of but from my testing so far no. Also if you're trying the challenge it HAS to be in the room that is connected to the dash ability shop.

FYI it only requires 800 dashes for the second door to open.

Ahh wait, if you saw my other comment, I didn't realize that, that person had 1000 but said you only need 800. My bad lol
This mechanic is too inconsistent. The button detection and direction detection/delay is not good enough for the level of precision and timing required.

I can't even fill up the bar in the room to the right of where you buy the dash upgrade without my guy just randomly sliding to a stop despite my timing being absolutely perfect. Made it to 82 dashes circling that damn thing in the middle and my guy just slides to a stop, or he occasionally (rarely) shoots off in some direction nearly completely opposite of my stick, into a wall. I am absolutely in the zone (I find it best to focus on the platform in the middle, and visually blur out the guy just so you can follow his trail enough to avoid walls), perfectly calm, and still, slides to a stop for no evident reason whatsoever. Very very disheartening to have this happen when you're really calm and focused, and eventually very frustrating. I gave up on that ♥♥♥♥.

But there's a door that requires 800? Ridiculous. They need to tone down the precision requirement just a tad or tighten up the button detection/delay. The detect/delay is so minute too, that it's not even really noticeable in any other aspect, combat or otherwise. But when trying for this dash just 0.01 seconds off and you lose your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ combo.

The mechanic isn't inconsistent. The game is fine. You just didn't get the hang of it yet

Mmhmm. Show me a video of you doing even 100 dashes in the room to the right of the shopkeeper. My timing is not falling off, at all. Hands are not shaking. Perfectly calm, it's not even hard to perform. I get up to 60-80 perfectly fine, without losing ANY focus, and it still just happens. Guy stops as if I missed a press, when I didn't. I've even set the stuff to a timer on my computer.

I'm certain eventually I will do it, but it won't be because I got better or got the hang of it.

Well im at 359 dashes in a row and i think my hand is gonna fall, just do something about this ridiculous dash challenge, it is unfair and not funny at all, this kind of thing ruins the game.....

The start of the combo is probably the trickest bit - each new dash needs to start as the previous one is ending - as the purple trail behind you collapses. The next dash finishes faster, so you need to tap the button sooner. After around 4, you're at the top speed, so just mash the button to your heart's content. At that point you only really have to deal with colliding into the walls...
