I guess they thought wasd wasnt accurate enough
I understand the reason why "dodge-to-mouse" may have been considered a good idea, as it makes some of the platform hopping a tiny bit easier. However it makes a lot of the battles a LOT more obnoxious.
I don't like feeling like I'm struggling against the controls of the game. The rest of the mouse and keyboard controls are great, aside from this one little thing.
2nd/vouch bitkid
if they were super worried about the platforming thing they could just have a mode where you hold shift or something and your dash is controlled by the cursor again. Easy solution shouldnt be hard to impliment.
I think the main issue I have with the keyboard and mouse dash mechanic is having to coordinate separate actions between left and right hands, keyboard and mouse. Its a bit like the familiar notion of trying to "pat your head while rubbing your belly". One hand wants to make the character move in one direction, while the other hand wants to move it in another.
When I'm playing I'm typically pressing or getting mentally ready to press WASD to move, all while clicking on an enemy to attack, which causes my character to face towards the mouse cursor. Then to dodge away from said enemy I must stop thinking about moving my character with WASD for a split second and remember to tap Space after moving the mouse cursor in a different direction again.
I suppose people who are really good at independent hand coordination, like piano players, may not have a problem. To me it is more intuitive to move and perform alterations to movement actions on the same hand.
definitely not effective.
Bunch of plebs you are.
There's a difference between skill and struggling against controls. I've already finished the game using the default mouse + keyb dash mechanics but that's not a replacement for wanting the controls to be more intuitive.
