I can definitely tell you it was not always this way. In fact, it's not that way for me now as I'm finishing up getting various secrets before finishing the game. And I'm running a version that's at least a couple of patches back, since I never launch it through steam and therefore don't get autoupdated. Which is a good thing, if they're just going to add in stuff to keep making it so much easier.
Of course, the OP could be wrong and could just be missing the ones without the lighted square. OP, do you think that could be the case? Are you familiar with enough of the secrets that you'd know if ANY were not marked with a lighted square? I could go in and find an example if you need one.
They claimed secret passages and platform activation areas. What you're talking about would only be the latter.
Either way, "hah, you can't see there's a path here because lolcamera" got old after the 10th secret passage anyway.
To each their own. Personally, that's part of the appeal for me. But I totally get that that's not a fun thing to do in a game for others. Just go read the thread about the people who are seeing how high they can get in the Dash Challenge to see that we are all snowflakes. :D
