Hyperlight Drifter Soundtrack - FLAC files????
I bought the sountrack anticipating a WAV or FLAC version beyond what was included with the game, but had to adjust my expectations when I discovered it was instead high bitrate lossy MP3. I guess I don't really consider MP3 a good format for music library master material. All I can propose is something more to call attention to the fact the soundtrack being offered on Steam is MP3 only.

You bought it on Steam? I have no idea what buying soundtracks on Steam is like.
I know Bandcamp offers FLAC files but you'll probably have to purchase it again. I'm sure if you email Disasterpeace or Heart Machine you'll be able to sort something out.

Where do you even find the files for the ost when you download the dlc? I've looked everywhere in my pc files and tried everything on steam (even ask this same question on the forums while searching everywhere on the internet), but I've still had had no luck.

Am I looking in the wrong places? Is it really simple and I'm missing something? Is there actually a problem and I didn't even get the soundtrack with the bundle? Please answer; this is my last resort ;-;

My feeling, and this is absolutely not a criticism of HLD or Disasterpeace, is that Steam does a poor job with this. It should be in a media library, we should know what format the audio is encoded in. I think in the end, bundling a soundtrack with a game as DLC is an afterthought and not particularly well-implemented in Steam by Valve.

I 100% agree!...

I was about to ask where it was again until I found the "Music" tab under library...

I'm such and idiot :P

Huh. Well that's new. I'm ambivalent about Valve trying to turn into iTunes (no trusts or monopolies, no horizontal nor vertical industry intigration, m'kay?), but that said I'm sure this new section in the 'library' will help in these circumstances...

The quality of the OST is horrible, it isn't even 320 KBPS. We need FLAC.

Yes. I was so disappointed when I bought the soundtrack as DLC to support an artist I'm a huge fan of, Disasterpeace, only to then discover that it was a pile of lossy compressed audio. As a consequence, I wound up buying it a second time, this time directly from Disasterpeace (on bandcamp?) to get access to the FLAC I had believed I was buying the first time. (It seemed reasonable to believe that the DLC was FLAC because "why would anyone want a lossy MP3 in their private music library?" Well, apparently -I'm- the one being styled by others as weird for actually caring about high fidelity to the original masterpiece work.)

Even NecroDancer provides Variable + FLAC, so you can pick one of them. Hell, most titles do that. There is NO reason not to include FLAC at that price, and especially how beautiful the music and soundscapes are.

Bit of a necropost, but you can request FLAC files from the devs if you provide proof of purchase from Steam. I've been doing that with most of my Steam-acquired soundtracks, so far all have been very nice with providing FLAC download links. Just got my HLD one and am downloading now.

I know this is one hell of a necropost, but how exactly can I contact the devs to ask for the download link?
Also what will I have to provide as proof of the purchase? The email in which steam confirmed the purchase or is it something else?

It looks like you can contact Heart Machine at this address: info@heart-machine.com
Or Disasterpeace here[disasterpeace.com] (though I would probably go to Heart Machine first)

Dunno about proof of purchase, I'd include the email but ask if they require anything different. Good luck!
