The map?
How am I supposed to interpret the map? That' the only bad thing about this game that I came upon so far.

Pink "diamond" shapes it where I've been? and the white ones is where I need to go?

It's the other way around, I think. I actually call them "slanted squares." :)

-If it's purple color, you haven't activated the Module at that location yet.
-If it's clear color, then you've activated the Module there. You may still want to backtrack in case you missed gear goodies, as I've found out more than once.

I agree the game map cries out for a simple "map legend." Maybe a pop up one via Alt key so players who'd rather "figure out" what everything means can do so; and those of us who'd rather have some basic things spelled out in terms "what does this mean" on the map can have it. Or a simple, optional tutorial for new players could just explain various things once for new players.

And of course in the cromagnon days of PC gaming, we had this crazy thing called a "game manual" that explained stuff like this. Too bad that went out of vogue. :D

To be honest, I've mostly given up trying to use the map other than using those diamond shapes to get a general direction of things. The game is fantastic, but this has got to be one of the worst maps I've ever experienced in a video game.

Saw this custom fan-created game map mentioned in one of the Steam Game Guides.

This is the Reddit link:

*He shows images with the in-game map too, which he also marked up.
*Even has a map legend. :-)

Probably I'll just keep bumbling blindly around, and then at some point use something like this map to try to figure out what I missed. Might be useful to pull up maps like that on a tablet.

Right now I'm just mauled by both the western and northern bosses, and I'm trying to find some upgraded weapons.

Yeah I didn't understand it either.

I opened that HDL Pickup map on my iPad, and while it's great, it can be maybe a tad difficult to discern the smaller icons then. Still really useful though, esp. if the peculiar underground map lines get you confused (I do all the time). :)
