NG+ is garbage
NG+ in my opinion is pretty bad, you are limited to 2 health bars (which is generally 1 hit depending on the enemy), you can't switch costumes and you have to collect all the collectibles all over again, plus weapons don't unlock until you find them again.

The health is what really kills me, there's literally no room for error at all and if aren't quick, you get stuck at a part forever. That and if you fall off an edge or get damaged by accident, you have to heal, however health boxes are limited except for the North area.

OMG the bird fight in NG+ behind the door that requires all modules to the North, is ridiculous. The sheer amount of enemies and you literally can't get hit at all, then your reward is almost nothing, made it feel not even worth the time i spent trying to beat that lol

In short, 1 more health bar could have made a huge difference but nope, horrible 2 health bar limitation with no way to expand or get extra health.

NG+ Pfffffffff

I thought the challenge of finding the most efficient way to end an encounter was very rewarding. If you're playing NG+ on only your second playthrough I can totally understand why you would feel like it's unbalanced, I'm very familiar with the flow of combat and the map itself, so playing NG+ is a welcome challenge to me.

I will say, though, that as someone who has played NG+ several times, there are some missed opportunities, that can make it feel tacked on. I chose to avoid the optional challenge areas, since their rewards are either world building material or something else you don't need, making the challenge a completely pointless endeavor and essentially invalidating entire chunks of the game. I hadn't really thought about it in that way before, but there is something to be said there.

I think NG+ turned out to be, whether intentionally or not, something meant for people who really attached to the game and were willing to look past its flaws or didn't notice them to begin with for whatever reason. I think I fall into the latter :P

haha nice, yea i mean it's an incredible game but this is my first NG+ playthrough so there are just aspects that feel unbalanced but i guess worth the challenge. Yea as all your upgrades pass over the world building items (i.e gold items) don't really do much unless you barely upgraded your stuff in first run.

That's what i got for beating the bird fight i mentioned above and i was really unhappy lol like "THAT'S IT!!" XD

I'll still finish NG+ of course, i just wish i could get at least get one more bar of health, that one hit kill is a pain in the butt lol

Kind of got the impression you were ranting after multiple failed attempts, yeah, even after all the hours I have I still dread fighting the north boss. Glad to hear you're gonna stick with it though, I think it's a very special game :)

It has a misleading name, I think it should be called Hard mode or Nightmare mode, or similar.

"New Game +" is a pretty flexible term. Giving you most of the stuff you acquired in your previous game (upgrades, weapons, etc.) is a very NG+ thing, though handicapping your health you may argue, isn't. Maybe Heart Machine thought that smooshing together a NG+ and Hardmode would just make things simpler. I like it mostly because I can't live without chaindash and not having to rush for gearbits to get it as early as I can is nice. That comfort is compounded when I have only two hit points.

Oh yea I actually forgot you start out with the dash and sword upgrades, true that. Anyway I think the mode is a really good challenge if you approach it with the "1 mistake and you're out" mentality :D

I'm actually looking forward to my N+ run - I feel like my play is super sloppy and i get away with lots of stuff I shouldn't, and I think this mode will force me to actually improve.

Right, the life limitation is something a lot of games NG+ don't do but i feel like they could have done proper NG+ checks such as collectibles you already have (i.e weapons, pickups, etc.) as there's no real reason to collect any of those things again or have them present in the world.

Like most games they should have increased the difficulty in enemies instead of reducing your health, give the enemies more health or do more damage that way even with max health you still get messed up if they hit you a few times.

Also if you do happen to go to an area for an item you already have (i.e gold pickups, weapons, etc.) instead of giving you the same item over again, you should get something in place of that such as health pickups (considering how much you need them with the limited health :P ) or new skins (considering some are extremely hard to beat with limited health).

There's a lot that could be done with it but you know, developers work on a game for so long, that last stretch can be a stomping ground for bad decisions :P

I agree it shouldn't be called "NG+" but I knew what I was getting into with it. Like a few other responses, I loved the extra strategy of having to approach levels and battles. I died a hell of a lot but it's rewarding when you take a boss out.

I've enjoyed it, beated it 2 times and heading for the third. I enjoy that NG introduces you to mechanics, abilities and enemies, while giving you an advantage of having whole 5 hp points to provide a room to your newbie mistakes. But NG+ forces you to forget your sloppy execution and actually git gud, while not regressing into being an artificial difficulty. It also makes the journey more valueable, stylish, epic, memorable and believable, as you're no longer a bullet sponge and more like a real human in terms of fragility. I'm grateful to devs for making NG+ this good. (Although North boss' square AoE, that will oneshot you just for touching your little finger on your feet, is nuts)
