struggling to keep the game at 60 fps
title
not sure what's happening
without vsync the game drops to 44 fps, and even with vsync I get some stutters + input lag.

running on fullscreen, windows 10, tried a lot of different versions, with KBM and XBOX360 controller.

Specs? Also random question, are you perhaps connected to a different monitor or Display System than what the game is running on?

i5 8gb ram 970gtx 144hz monitor

the game was running just fine, I already finished it, but I'm trying to grab all the modules and keys.

Even if I lock to 30 fps and turn off the vsync, my framerate drops to like 22fps. This is very weird.

GameMaker sucks.

I haven't come across any issues such as these, and with the information you have given I cannot give an accurate answer to your solution, sadly. Maybe try a Disk Cleanup and Defragment and Optimize your drives. You could also try a Memory Diagnostic to check for any issues on that end of the spectrum.

I really wish I could help more but that is all I can provide.

Wait, did you get this game from Twitch?

I've changed a bunch of settings on Nvidia Control Panel and it seems to have fixed the issue.

No, got the game on Steam.

Ah I see, if I had known you had NVidia I would have suggested such things.

Also, I only asked if you got the game via Twitch because what you were experiencing is what a lot of people were when they got the game through Twitch.

Glad to see your problem is resolved
Happy Drifting!

I dont think its gamemaker, i ran it on a 1050ti and a i3, no framerate drops.

Thats not what im running now but the required specs for this game is low af, it runs on a switch for petes sakes.

At launch the game was capped at 30fps. Later they patched to run at 60fps. On Switch the game is running at 120fps. Not sure if it is the same engine.

i mean, your post isn't from launch tho. . . the game as it stands should run fine on a 970 if my 1050 ti ran it fine without issues

no idea what was going on. if it was something I changed on my nvidia control panel, or was the xbox 360 controller driver issue on Win10, no idea, but I was getting better performance on a beta build.
