are the frogs really the bad guys

I haven't played this game in two years and two months because I remember getting to a point in the story where I my mission was to kill the Evil frog people who were killing the cute sweet WHITE fluffy mamal people. I thought this was a pretty lazy trope, and also I'm a big fan of frogs and frog anthro characters. I think this was the main reason I quit playing, though I also was having a really hard time learning the controls. I was mad enough I tried to get a refund on the game.

Do I really have to kill the frog people or was it going to teach me a lesson, like 'your prejudice against frogs misled you to assume they were the bad guys!' or something? did they just use a reptillian like creature for 'readability' ? is there another village of reptillian or amphibian people who I can rescue instead of murder?

My headcanon of the East region was the frogs had a homeland much further east but it got polluted by the refineries in the aqueduct city, and they got integrated into the otter's society when they migrated away from their toxic homes. And that after they both defeated the Titan in the East, the frogs overthrew the crippled otter populace and started genociding/enslaving them as revenge for what they did to their original home.

i generally do not feel intense emotions when it comes to games BUT THEIR GENOCIDE GENUINELY MAKES ME ANGRY AND I WANT TO ERASE THEM FROM HISTORY
