I recently finished the game and I read the WHOLE credits trying to find easter eggs or something and then I found "Kanye West" in the credits.

What is that supposed to mean?

Special Thanks, I believe. And so is Anita Sarkeesian, Zoe Quinn, and other mixed opinion "celebrities."

Generally all it means is that any of these people have expressed their support (whether through helping the devs at game conventions or even just wishing them well) in the many years HLD has been in development. It doesn't mean anything more than thanking those people for their support.

Also cool to hear from the horse's mouth that Heart Machine isn't done yet and that they're working on another video game. No word on what it is or anything about it, but it's happening.

If they contributed even the most minute amount of support, finnacially or otherwise, then there's no reason not to add them to the Special Thanks reel for it no matter who they are.

I disagree. Acknowledging controversial figures with clear agendas who are known to harass and smear game developers who do not abide by their victimization narrative is demonstrative of a clear lack of character on the part of the developer.

They are welcome to give "Special Thanks" to anyone they like, and I am welcome to take my money elsewhere in the future.

What a mindless thing to say. This shows a lack of character on your part since you're implying that you'd be too immature to stick to common etiquette (i.e. thanking everyone who supported you in anyway). What was Heart Mahine supposed to do; NOT include the feminists in the Special Thanks and risk being crucified by the resulting wave of hate that would come? I'm almost positive your inconsequential rescindment of future payments is obviously much more preferable to being targeted by incredibly influential feminists. Think about consequences, will you?

Yes, developers should stand up to the social justice warriors and feminists who have zero interest in buying the games they rage about instead of kowtowing to those shills just to appease them. Including someone in your list of Thanks is hardly the same thing as supporting them or kowtowing. It's literally just an aknowledgement of the fact that they helped you; I don't know why you're reaching so far. I mean, do you think the developers are stupid? You think they'd be willing to face the consequences of getting on the bad side of popular feminists just to impress the HLD fanbase?

Now that I think about it, it's less about avoiding consequences and more about just not being immature ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Only immature ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ would exclude the people who helped them just because they dislike them. There are better ways to speak out against someone than risking your work and integrity; the main guy behind HLD already has heart problems; why the hell would he start beef, my guy?
