Clearly not understanding the game, specially the map
Guys, I've killed the East, West and North boss, I have quite a few upgrades but still, I have no idea of what I'm doing. What am I chasing? What are the monoliths?
I can't understand the map really well, what are the white squares? and what are the white squares with pink inside?
Does the map show differently the places where you've been and the ones you haven't?
Why will some doors open with 3 pink triangles and other only with 4? I've recently found a door I can't open even with 4 triangles (west region, south from the way point).
I'm loving the game to no end, but of all the games I've played, this is the one I least understand.

Pink square: One of the pink triangles is found there.
White square: You've already found the triangle.
Some doors actually need more than 4. Thats as far as I can help.

the monoliths are stuctures created by an ancient race. ur end goal is to take the middle platform in the town and fight the boss, judgment

Look up how to reach the area from the very beginning of the game, proceed from there, and I think you'll understand pretty quickly what the deal with the monoliths is.

The story of the game is explained in the intro cinematic. The 4 spiecies of the 4 regions, the titans, the towers, the divine being (the dog) that lives within their confines, and the terrible war that destroyed them.
Your character is sick, and has visions. The divine dog character wants you to find the white glowing corrupted dimond shaped core.
The relationship between each of these characters and elements is obscure at the beginning of the game, but you should be able to piece it together by observing the scenery as you walk through the world. The 4th area (South) is the most important in terms of linking the story elements together. If you observe your surroundings welle enough, you'll understand the critical parts of the story as you go through this area.

The way to achieve your goal is explained at the beginning of the game inside the pink warrior's house, you can return there and click on the computer to watch again (find 4 pink elements in each area to unlock the central area in the middle of the town).

In each area are hidden 8 pink elements. When you meet the pink warrior, he'll tell you the location of 4 of them, the 4 others remain hidden.
They are displayed as pink on the map when you haven't found them, they are displayed white/grey once you have found them.
In each area, the partial element doors prevent you from reaching the boss until you have found the required number of elements. And an 8-elements door accesses a hard challenge area where you'll encounter harder battles in order to obtain a bonus item.

The map is made of 2 layers.
The surface layer matches the geometry and size of the outside world.
The underground layer is a series of rooms (pink squares) linked with elevators or doors (arrows/lines linking the rooms together). The position of the underground room on the map does not match perfectly their real world position. So you must follow the arrows to find out where the entrance and exits are located. Look for arrows pointing to nothing to find the location of the entracne/exits on the surface layer.

The location of the pink elements is shown piercing through both layers. So check the two map layers to see if the element could be in the underground room rather than at the surface.

Very thorough, thank you for your time.
