Riptide GP2
Big fan of Hydro Thunder & Hurricane, H2Overdrive! Thankful for this while dreaming for more!
I am a huge fan of Hydro Thunder, I grew up playing it in the arcades and still play it on Dreamcast, PS2 and PC. Even today I know several arcades locally with cabinets linked up playing LAN (6 units). Another arcade close to me has the Raw Thrills "H2Overdrive" which is a direct spin off of Hydro Thunder (go hunt down a cabinet, its worth it). Remember those old Midway guys are a part of Raw Thrills now. Also, what an incredible game Hurricane is right? I couldnt get enough of that miltiplayer with friends online, except that jumpy Rad Hazard $#%^$#.

Ive been hoping for a PC port of any of any Hydro styled game for a long time, and im so thrilled to see GP2 here in my coming soon list! Vector Unit who was behind Hurricane knows exactly what they are doing here. We already know they can deliver and I couln't be more excited about it. I will support it 100% but I am still dreaming of a proper Hydro release. Hopefull we will see it, or someone can reverse engineer the arcade game of H2Overdrive (which runs on a modified version of windows from what ive seen in the arcade manual) and bring it home!

Vector Unit, if you read this please know we all would love Hydro Hurricane too! I am thrilled and excited to play Riptide GP2 and just felt the need to type out some old memories and thoughts. now, lets GO GO GOOOOO!!!! :D:

Hi, Matt from Vector Unit here. Thanks for all these thoughts and comments! We also have a soft spot for our first game Hydro Thunder Hurricane (and the original, and H2Overdrive...and Wave Race 64, and Jet Moto....)

I'm guessing Hydro Thunder Hurricane will probably stay on Windows 8 and XBLA for the foreseeable future, since it's a Microsoft product. But they have brought some games over to Steam, so who knows.

I hope you enjoy Riptide GP2 -- it's a different game from HTH, although there's a lot that will be familiar to you. It's less of an arcade racer with shortcuts etc. and more of a futuristic motocross on water hybrid. There's a lot of content, though, including vehicle customization and some other things we didn't get into HTH.
Hello Matt, thank you for coming in here and taking the time to reply and explain! Ah yes, Wave race NOW you're talking! That is a stand out title for that console and I'm sure you would agree some of the best water physics around.

Thanks for your input on HTH I can always hope for it but am very happy with your current lineup . I do have GP2 on my iPad mini and it runs very nice! smooth framerate and good controls. I'm very excited to play this with a proper contoller, online with 6 of my friends.

Thanks again, and I;m sure GP2 will be a great success on steam for you guys. I will do everything I can to help promote it (podcast, Youtube, Twitch Stream ect). I look forward to this and your other games!

I played soo much Hydro Thunder on Xbox Live. It's a shame the tablet version was kind of a disappointment. I'm hoping that Riptide on Steam will be just as much fun as HTH was. I've been kind of wishing for a new Jet Moto

It looks very similar to SledStorm 2 on PS2 which was one of my favourite games of all time, if it is like that, then I will definately buy it :)

Thanks Jason! We don't really do "advertising" in any traditional sense, so any word of mouth you guys can give us is hugely appreciated!
Ahh, Wave Race, Hydro Thunder, Jet Moto, Sled Storm... You guys are really talking my language and now that the nostalgia wave has hit me I think I'm gonna have to pick this up too. Looking forward to racing you all!
Please guys bring Hydro Thunder Hurricane to our PC, there aren't enough games like this !

This would be amazing, I wonder if they're still under license with Microsoft though? Hydro THunder would sell like hotcakes on Steam, that's for sure.
Wave Race was my favourite and I was pretty damn good at it. Only after a Nintendo competition for the best times closed, did I realise my times where faster on quite a few of the courses :( (true story ;p) I used the big green guy and pounded the A button to skip waves.

Mentions of Wave Race is making me feel nostalgic. I played both Wave Race 64 and Wave Race Blue Storm for many, many hours back in the day. Loved both of them. I've been checking Riptide GP2 out and checking the forums and I think I'll have to get this game. Looks fun!

It's been on the pc for the past year. :) You just need Windows 8 and you'll find it in the store. Works like a dream. Vector, please make games like that. I'm not a fan of being forced to do tricks to win. I just want to play a fast-paced, excited racer with creative track design. Tricks aren't my bag.

I played it, they turned it into a tablet game, I was not impressed.

It was good for what it was but Hydro Tunder on the Xbox with a contoller and Xbox Live was way better. Riptide was just as good as Hydro Tunder tablet, I'm hoping it'll be awesome on Steam.

I'm right there with you. I have a long history of love for games like this, starting with Waverace 64.

The original Riptide GP was one of the first games I bought for my Nexus 7, and it was so great I bought GP2 on the day it was released. Now it looks like I might just get it on Steam, too!
My friend bought the software for H2Overdrive as it's available on Raw Thrills website for £5.00 but can't install it on his PC as it required a special distribution of Linux or something complicated like that. Wish they'd release it on PC as not everyone has the money or space for a huge cabinet, especially in the UK where houses are so tiny.

Is there any news of Hydro Thunder Go being released on Steam? I was so disappointed that it was a mobile-only game, and playing these games on a phone is so awkward.
Wave Race Blue Storm was my favorite game on the Cube, the weather conditions were awesome. Playing Strongwater Keep on Expert and having it go from slightly foggy with a bit of rain to full-on dark thunderstorm was such an experience, why can't they do that with modern games?
