Hydro Thunder Hurricane?
Is there a chance of the hit XBox Arcade game Hydro Thunder Hurricane landing on Steam?

I want it here too! I played the demo on the Windows Store but want all my game purchases to be on Steam.

That would be awesome, but I think there might be licensing issues with Midway going bust. This might be the closest we'll get to it. :/ Im hoping that this has similar level design though, Hydro Thunder (and Hurricane) had some of the most creative and entertaining levels I've seen in ANY racing game, let alone a water-based one. Cant wait to try this out.

Oh, wow, never realized this game were made by the same studio that did Hydro Thunder Hurricane. That game was a blast.

The Thunder IP is definitely not in the grave with Midway though. I believe Microsoft Studios owns it. Although for PC gamers that's pretty much the same thing.

Microsoft Studios has published many famous indie games on Steam. Fingers crossed they do the same for HTH in due time. :)

Ah, from checking around, I dont think MS owns the IP, they just licensed it - Its possibly Warner Bros that have the IP...

Would be nice to have both Riptide and Hydro Thunder Hurricane on steam

I think MS did actually purchase the Hydro license unfortunately. I bought Windows 8 solely for Hurricane and loved it. But it was a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ port. No different from the 360 version, no graphics options, resolution didn't look any better etc.

And given it is a Windows 8 exclusive, I doubt it will ever come to Steam.

On another note, MS also promised a bunch of Windows 8 games (Kinectimals etc) that never released so hopefully they concede defeat with W8 and allow Hydro Thunder on all Windows.

Hey! This is Matt at Vector Unit. Currently there are no plans to bring HTH to Steam, as far we know. Microsoft was the publisher, and they licensed the IP from Warner Bros who bought it when Midway went under.

We basically took the technology that we developed while making HTH (which we own), and built Riptide GP and Riptide GP2 on top of it. The game is a spiritual cousin to HTH but if you haven't played it yet, it is a bit different. Where a big part of HTH was weighing the risk/rewards of taking different shortcuts, RGP2 is built more around stunting, and trying to earn more boost by pulling off bigger stunts, at the risk of crashing before you land the stunt.

There's a lot more customization in RGP2 too -- HTH didn't really have any customization.

Awww. I'm gonna miss those risky shortcuts from Hydro Thunder.

I still play Hydro Thunder Hurricane regularly on my 360, so there's always that!

Same here. haven't played it in a while, but it'll be one of the main reasons I'll be keeping my 360 for a while longer. :)

Hydro Thunder Hurricane would be absolutely GORGEOUS on PC running at 60+fps. I think you guys at Vector Unit should consider a PC port at some point.

HTH is such a great game.

I would love HTH to hit Steam, hopefully MS will do it. They gave us Age of Empires II HD after all so maybe it's a possibility? I hate Windows 8 so I'm not going to bother with it for one bloody game.

I would buy a 4 pack of HTH. I have Riptide on my tablet and HTH was a much better game. I understand Riptide was made to be a mobile game so that limits things.
