Favourite/Best Investigators

Who are your favourite investigators, and why? Do you use a certain team composition that you find especially effective?

I especially like Gloria Goldberg - she can have both the red+yellow dice, when attempting an Otherworld-Adventure. Combined with another item, she beats those almost every time.

I also like Sister Mary, since she ignores any locked dice, which has proven useful many times.

What are your recommendations?

It depends on the campaign, for example Carolyn Fern is very strong on the Cthulu campaign, since you lose a lot of sanity constantly.

Gloria Goldberg + The Dreamer combo very well together.

I've only started playing, but finished Yig on my first go. I believe it was heavily due to the ability of one Joseph Diamond. Using a clue to re-roll a horrible hand is helpful, and all the more so when you can re-re-roll that hand. I luckily ended up with like five or so clues in his hands through the game, so it really helped.

I also used Carolyn's ability quite a bit, but on other characters mostly. Watching the At the Table video someone recommended here before playing, I thought Dexter would be a good choice. He didn't shine as much as in that video though.

Thanks for the advice with carolyn Fern - worked out pretty well on my cthulhu campaign attempt (which I still failed tho).

I've found Dexter to be pretty useful too, the spell items you get can really turn around the game.

Jenny Barnes is my favorite investigator. The extra yellow and red dices are a god send. I have beaten every 'Ancient ones' with her as the only member of the party.

Well, I like to use the professor who can change mythos to scrolls, the reporter who can up his investigation numbers and the thompson totting McCann who can change mythos to skulls. This allows you to send the right person on the right mission that matches their bonuses. As a fourth I change up depending on the enemy, Gloria is a good choice for many but also the guy who can lock a glyph even after he completes a task is a good choice and the man who can redo his clues is a must on the hardest missions. When you face the Pharoah he is worth the effort.

Definintely Carolyn Fern is my number 1. But I also use Dexter Drake, Amanda Sharpe and Darrell Simmons :)
