How does wall jumping actually work on the jump pads?
I can do it consistently in the tutorial area, but in the tower of anxiety I seem to always fail. Most of the time I get near it but just don't grab on. Sometimes I do grab on but then fall before I can jump.
The way I have been doing it is to jump in the direction of the jump pad, push the control stick to the right, hold it to the right while Seve grabs on, press and hold the jump button, then move the control stick to the left towards the next jump pad. Is that correct or have I got the order wrong? I practice it in the tutorial area, but I can hit those 99% of the time. It's just the tower of anxiety ones that I fail on, especially the ones on the left hand side.

Glad I'm not the only one having trouble with them. In my case it feels like no matter how long I hold down the jump button to increase my jump height, at best I just barely grab the bottom of those things. While I did get through the tower of anxiety the jump pads in the secret area have been humbling me hard.

The key is that you don't need to grab onto the pads before jumping off them, you can walljump as long as you are close enough to a wall/pad.

from the instruction note:
"REMEMBER, YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE SLIDING ON A PAD TO JUMP
JUST JUMP CLOSE TO IT, PUSH THE ANALOG STICK IN THE DIRECTION YOU WANT TO JUMP, AND JUMP AGAIN"

I was originally playing on the Switch version and absolutely could not get past it. But yesterday I started playing on PC and I can get past it every time that I have tried so far. So maybe my Switch setup has some input delay.

One thing I did to try to combat that was to jump off the jump pad twice. Once to get the extra jump from it (when the pad spins) and the second time to jump off it like a normal wall where it stays still. That helps me keep the height up towards the end of a section.

Finally dealt with that pesky jump pad from the other day after taking a break. Turns out I was checking to see if I was sliding or not before I tried jumping off it.

The Switch version almost definitely has some extra input delay, selecting a resolution without a scanline filter improves it little but doesn't remove it completely.
I got to the point where I could beat the tower of anxiety consistently on PC but doing it on Switch had me struggling all over again because my muscle memory was messing me up.

It helped me to use the D-pad for jump pads because it allowed me to quickly turn around the same frame I jump and snapped to a perfect diagonal

You want to hold the jump button in, as the longer you do, the more lift you'll get off the pad. I say this as someone who's been playing for almost 30 hours now and whose run the Tower of Anxiety so many times that I've completed it with full health.
