Using Fuse 1.3 : Handy Tips to remember when exporting models.
I started this thread because I've wasted a lot of time and effort because I forgot change my Preferences before exporting my models to Mixamo for rigging.

With the Mixamo web site glitches caused by the introduction of Adobe Fuse CC, it has become essential remember to change parts of your Prefence settings that never needed to be changed to upload some of your characters.
But you have to remember to go back and change the settings once the model is uploaded to Mixamo.

Which brings me to the main subject, Texture Settings and Maps.

When you upload a character to Mixamo, Fuse will pack the information into a bundle before uploading it to the website.
I change the default 1024x1024 body texture resolution in "Textures" to 2048x2048 because I want higher resolution characters.

But to get any actual benefit from the increased resolution, you need to instruct Fuse in "Preferences" to Export the model at a higher resolution, otherwise it will just export the model textures at the default setting of 1024x1024.

You can find your Prefences here:

Fuse will decide the model's scale and the resolution of the texture maps it will upload depending on what you set them at.
(NB: Default Scale setting is 1, and default resolution setting is 1024x1024.)

I choose the highest texture setting option, and as that character was a smaller female, I reduce the character scale from 1 to .91

I only realised that I was on the default setting and exporting my characters at a lower res, because I just happened to notice (WTF) the uploading files were only half their usual size. (9MB and not 18MB)

Anyway, I hope my annoying oversight will help you get a higher resolution character to download or export to other software.

If you use the AutoRig, Your model will be available for download in SFM or GMod format. (or at least it was when Mixamo owned the program). You download that and put it into a folder in the SFM/GMod folders and away you go.

If you export as an OBJ from FUSE proper, you then have to load the model into a 3d Editing program, Rig it with an armature/skeleton, weight paint it, then export the model from the 3d Editor as a SMD or DMX source model and compile it. You also have to convert the textures to Valve format as well.
