Too small
On my newer computer, running Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 at 3840x2160 resolution, the game runs in a small window surrounded by all black. When I change the resolution, it becomes bigger, but the mouse clicks don't line up correctly. (For example, I click on the Shadows of Amn logo and it reads it as clicking "Quit Game".) Any help would be appreciated.

Can't you simply set a lower resolution and then start the game? When increasing the resolution too much, eventually you would need to enable the Scale User Interface option anyway, as the UI would become too small. And the main ingame graphics won't get better if scaling them too much.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Try to change resolution in your baldur.lua file.

This worked beautifully! Thank you so much!!!

I'm having this problem right now, and neither of these two solutions made any difference. Changing my global display resolution still made the game the same small size on the screen with black bars.

The only resolution setting I can find in the Baldur.lua file appears to be the size of the window when running in windowed mode? Is there a keyword I should be looking for? The game does not scale to fit the size of the window.

I've also tried changing the scaling override settings for my graphics card (Nvidia), and that didn't change anything.

Same here. My Mac says I don't have anything to open baldur.lua. This is really stupid. I need to be a programmer to play a game?

You can open lua files with wordpad or notepad. Not sure what the mac equals are but any program that is used to read text files can be used to open lua files. They are not set to do this by default.

This is the worst game I have played in my entire life. Why are people saying this game was good its terrible. I got the size thing working and then I played it and.... wow this game is so bad.

It's one of the greatest games ever made, but it's not for everybody.

I thought you were joking until I looked at your review history. It’s like the guy who doesn’t get the joke while everyone else is laughing, then get’s angry when he can’t understand. It’s okay not to like other things, but you are extremely rude insulting the millions of people who loved the game. Almost like you are upset you dont get the game. Try something more simple like minecraft maybe? Roblocks? Leave these games for the adults. “Wow I cant believe people all like this game I dont, it requires thinking”

He doesn't like baldur's gate, he uses the word "friggin" and the phrase "better than this garbage," and he spells commodore wrong. Yet he expects us to think he's an oldschool gamer that likes a c64 game better.

He's off topic. He's trying to tell people a game is bad in the steam discussions of the game itself. Maybe he should go tell the pope to change religions.

Need I say more? lol

I can't believe I'm getting notifications on this almost four years later.

4k works correctly now but I hate the scaling option of scale ui to resolution. I like it in 2560x1440 but it's too small in 4k for my preference? only other option is it to make it look like 800x600 scaling lol just the UI

Anyone know what values to set in the X and Y slots? I tried 2560x1440 too but my playable area goes all the way to the left.
