Game Breaking Bug
If you save and reload, all mob spawns around you will be despawned. This is a game breaking break, I suggest everyone skip this game until its fixed.

quick save near a spawn, and reload. Spawn will be gone

Are you saying it lets you save while in combat (red circled mob visible)?

That shouldn't be possible.

Missing spawns don't break the game, ever, as they are not required anywhere to progress the game. They come back if you wait a while too.

biggreenpig - its game breaking when say it despawns illyrich. So you can't get the acorns, and then get the lampt o free the genie or help the dryads.

Been a fair few years since my last BGII run, but I remember this happening with the "random spawns" a lot in BG1, and BG2 also.

As for the permanent spawns of enemies, I'm not getting this bug at all. I've just (embarassingly) been taken out twice fighting the rakasha and kobolds in the sewers under the temple district, and each reload the enemies were there correctly.

So unless OP is discussing permanent mobs like those, then it's no bug. since the random spawn enemies were and still are, just random spawns who may or may not turn up as you traverse an area, and may or may not when you revisit it.

There's no way he got despawned. I find this bug annoying too, but first of all it only affects "filler" enemies. Not enemies that are actually hand placed there. Secondly he is actually friendly at first. You probably just missed him, like I actually did myself. Check this map where to find him.

Check this map Ilyich the Duergar is in the room under #8 :)
