For me though the bad guy at the end of R-Type was just so mean looking, albeit slightly easy to kill.
I especially love the glass jars with pickled men inside. Such a nice touch to a beautiful dungeon.
DA:O damn near as much as BG2; just about everything about Dragon Age: Origins
scored a perfect 10 with me and I played it through from start to finish 6 complete times
.... and yet I can't remember the name of the villain! Might just be me but I think that
says that the ultimate villain in DA:O scores no more than a 4 out of 10.
Fave character in BG in, of course, Minsc and Boo. Fave character in DA:O is
without doubt Wade the Master Armour Craftsman, just thinking about him with that
huge moustache and decidely camp manner makes me smile!
Shame DA2 was a total of crock of ...... fill in the blanks yourself.
remember it, I failed. Thanks Sammi :-)
I do remember the showdown with Loghain was really nothing special, challenging might
be being too generous for the encounter. Forgettable is probably closer to the mark.
I suppose you could say Loghain, but the real big bad in DA:O was the Archfiend which isn't the most impressive villain considering he's basically just a really powerful dragon. Loghain was good but the threat he posed was not the focus of your efforts.
But yeah, on topic, Irenicus is definitely one of the best villains in gaming, I'm not sure I'd say THE best but he's definitely up there. He was perfect for BG2 and definitely had all of the qualities you want in a good fantasy villain. Menacing, cunning, cold and cruel. Pretty good at magic too (I seem to recall him literally breaking D&D rules in his fights.)
Irenicus is on the other hand somewhat more sympathetic, even admirable.
