Monk as main?

Has anyone played a Monk all the way through as a main character in BG II? I've always played warriors/palidans in the past and I was wondering if I should go Monk this time around...

I mained a monk when the game first came out. VERY fun. A little rough at first, but mid/later levels the dude was unstoppable...really had a blast. One of the few memories I have of the game.

Monks do a lot of dmg prob the most next to a sorc or mage however don't care for his nakedness

Monk lvl 12+ maybe is the best char all round

Monks are always good. One of the bigger downsides is that their fists only eventually count as +4 weapons so it may require more work to take down some of the more powerful enemies.

Monk was perfect. His movement speed and stunning punch allow him to quickly resolve most of battles. In Throne of Bhall monk has some special abillities like Lunar Stance, which allow him to run free while time stop spell was in effect. There are some special items only for monk (one of them provide +1 attack per round)

"Original in Baldur's Gate 2 monk class use same high level abilities as Warrior mod Oversight adds new abillites for monks". So I had to played with this mod.

Monks in BG2 are gods. Not 3 or 3.5 edition level gods, but they are extremely overpowered. Had one once (Modded to be an orc) and he would solo entire rooms before the rest of the party even caught up to him.

Monks in bg2 are ridiculous, specially if you use the mirage robe and boots of haste.

So many memories, but yes. Do it. It is challenging at first, but becomes rewarding over time. Once you get to become the slayer, you are unstopable.

in the OG i played as a monk. it was very hard at first and I had to protect my charector a lot. but as I gained levels OMFG. Power house, mage killing, resitence machine. As said use the robe and boots of haste makes this dude so fast he jsut chops through everything. It's great when you one punch a badass dude too!

Since BG II starts me at level 7 I have already bypassed the early growing pains. :) Got him at level 8 and enjoying him so far.
