1) You can buy the Staff of Rhynn +4 from a vendor in the Adventurer's Mart in Promenade.
2) You can loot for free the Warhammer +1, +4 vs giantkin. And Kangaxx is considered a giant activated the +4 on this weapon. This can be looted by doing the quest Nalia gives you to clear the trolls from her home.
Fighting liches? Polymorph self MUSTARD JELLY! HAhahahah! 100% Magic Resistance.
Also when Minsc goes berserk he's immune to imprisonment. That's how I killed a demilich in Watcher's Keep. Minsc solo-ed it.
And the Ring of the Ram ignores spell resistance and damage resistance and seems to ignore all protection spells for up to 30 damage. That'll shorten any fight.
After that, just place anything with a Death Ward and immunity to Imprisonment next to Kangaxx and hit him with any +4 weapons you have.
"AAAAAyyyyyaaahhhh!!! MAGIC must defeat magic!"

Scrolls of Protection from Unded would not go amiss here either.
Don't forget: sometimes the best person to use Protection from Magic on is your opponent.
Or at the very least it does not grant immunity to Imprisonment as cast by Kangaxx. This irritates me because there really are almost no ways to defend against this spell with no save. >:\
Imprisonment is by far the lamest way to lose a fight.
Side note: If you have Yoshimo or another bounty hunter with you, trap spam his spawn location. And Melf's Minute Meteors count as +5 Weapons.
I'm plotting to make a mod to add Cespenar to SoA via a quest. Until then if you have the cheats enabled, do this:
CLUAConsole:CreateCreature("BOTSMITH")
That will spawn Cespenar. Pick a good place you don't mind visiting. Seriously, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to combine the items you find from Watcher's Keep. Most of the good components are in ToB anyway, but I hate lugging around all my Watcher's Keep loot through the save games.
It IS supposed to work... that's what's irking me. And it worked for me just fine on a previous demi-lich. Maybe Kangy is just special.
And yes... As Uncle said, magic must defeat magic... *sigh* Yep, I should go Mage assault. Problem is I can't leave Neera alone with Kangaxx. That room is a "You must gather your party" instance.
Anyhow, when in doubt mustard jelly or invisibility.
EDIT: JEEZ! Okay, nevermind. He targeted Minsc through invisibility and imprisoned him again. He REALLY hates Minsc! This is the 8th time he's been imprisoned.
The problem I had was that my protection spell ran out while I was casting a new one so I wasted one attempt because he imprisoned me in the .005 second window he had.
To be on the *really* safe side, only have your mage next to him and use ranged to beat him. I used the +5 sling you can buy.
Even though the Lich is immune to poison damage, his spell casting will still be interrupted by taking damage from poison inflicted by Yoshimo's traps (granted the amount of damage he takes is zero, but zero is still a number).
Okay, I give. He's bank-shotting imprisonment around the sarcophagus to Imprison Yoshimo now (since I was one Protection from Undead scroll short for the poor guy). I'm gonna call that a "win" and come back for Yoshimo later...
In BG2EE I think there was more of an effort to have any weapon that gives a bonus against a certain enemy, like Daystar or the Burning Earth, treat its enchantment level as though it is the higher value. As far as I'm aware this change was also part of the BG2 Fixpack core fixes. It doesn't always work like this however. Dragon's Bane +3, Foebane +3, Foebane +5, Jerrod's mace, Flame of the North+2, and the Rod of Smiting all hit based on whatever Thac0 benefit they have. Its not particularly consistent either way.
Anyways, Daystar in BG2EE does hit as if it was a +4 weapon regardless of the enemy you are attacking.
