Report a translation problem
I understand that the pits are in Thay for BGII:EE; Thay certainly exists in Faerûn, but I have never heard of any specific place called the "Black Pits", or any of the characters in that storyline.
It's not exactly a stretch that it could exist in Forgotten Realms though.
As for the Black Pits I believe the first one is located in the Underdark. Past that I'm not sure much is really said about it.
The 2nd one I'm not as certain about though as I understand it (and given its named "Gladiator's of Thay") it does have something to do with being in or below Thay.

As part of Neera's questline in BG2EE you do end up going to Thay/The Black Pits.
