is the black pits an actual location in the forgotten realms?
or is it a beamdog location, if its an actual location were abouts is it, like underground maybe under baldurs gate sewers, in the underdark somewhere, should they add it to the main game world. this game made me interested in forgotten realm lore.
thankyou for your time.

Edit: is their other forgotten realm games that use DND mechanics like waterdeep?

If the Black Pits in this game is anything like in the first one, I'm 99% sure it's a Beamdog invention.

I understand that the pits are in Thay for BGII:EE; Thay certainly exists in Faerûn, but I have never heard of any specific place called the "Black Pits", or any of the characters in that storyline.

It's not exactly a stretch that it could exist in Forgotten Realms though.

The game is signed off by Wizards of the Coast. The Black Pits is as legit as any other place the original game makes up (like Amkethran and possibly Ust Natha).

As for the Black Pits I believe the first one is located in the Underdark. Past that I'm not sure much is really said about it.

The 2nd one I'm not as certain about though as I understand it (and given its named "Gladiator's of Thay") it does have something to do with being in or below Thay.

well it would be cool to go there in the main game aswell more maps more lore, i dont think we have been to thay before so it would be a good dlc idea like tales of the sword coast from bg1 (tales of the amn coast bg2), can you go to thay in BG2?
this is a roleplaying game which is about choice

As part of Neera's questline in BG2EE you do end up going to Thay/The Black Pits.
