solo halfling thief
hey everyone,
I really want to get into this game, because a lot of people told me, it is the best rpg out there. but I cant get along with the groupsystem so I tried a solo run with a halfling shadowstep thief. and it worked really good (for the first 20mins) but now I am at an enemy in the tutorial where you have to activate a machine twice and the enemy covered in a bllueshield becomes attackable. he kills me within three strikes and I he can see me even I am invisible.

is my worktrough done here or is it possible for me to get along? I tried like 10 times and failed everytime.

thanks

You actually don't need to kill that guy.

aww really? ok I got him with that speed-boost-potion.

but one more question: is there any penality about resting?

Resting heals you. A solo thief is probably going to need to pay a LOT of money to those temples for healing. On my first try, I rested about a month to heal when I didnt have a cleric. Then again, I don't like thieves so I only use the dual-classed thief/mages. Get a cleric.

Let me get this straight, you're attemptiong to solo on your FIRST PLAYTHROUGH?

That's like trying boxing for the very first time and asking to be blindfolded & having one arm tied behind your back... in other words, I doubt you're gonna enjoy it.

Soloing my first time as well, Fighter/Mage/Thief, having a blast.

Unless he/she loves to play in insane hardcore mode ... then this is just right. :HappyChompy:

Hey Willson :) Soloing is possible, but it might be hard at first playthrough, you might encounter enemies that are particularly strong to your class/tactics, while other parts are easy. I suggest making a dual-class character tho, if you want to solo the whole game. It gives you more of a chance to deal with different situations. Good luck!

And keep us updated as you progress.

You should probably also concider that there is a level cap on your characters, which means that your character at some point will not be stronger than it would othervise be if you had been playing 6 characters the whole game. That being said, when u meet new characters later, they will correspond in level to your level, so you can always change your mind in your playing style. That being said, i highly reccomend you play with a full party. You will hit many enemies along the way which you will only ever be able to defeat with game abuse such as line of sight pulls and such, and you will have to reload many many times to win those battles.

One might think of Baldurs Gate 2 as one of the best RPGs ever made due to the epic character interaction of your NPCs/group members. You're gonna miss all that. ...
