Jan Jansen doesn't join the party.
I don't know if this is a bug or not... the first time I met Jan, I did not include him in the party because I already had 6 chars and was in the middle of a mission. Now I want him to join but he doesn't offer to join anymore. I'm afraid I have lost him forever... anyone can help about this?

Thanks.

when you first met him did you cover for him about selling magic items when he was confronted about it?

If you didnt then maybe he wont join.

When you first meet jan you have two options: Cover for him or report him to officals. But in both cases you can add him to your party. Just need to pay the bail if they take jan to prison then he can join. If that does not happen there may be a bug about that and you may need to reload
In our first meeting i said i'm not interested and now he doesn't speak with me anymore. Some kind of bug maybe?

I have the same problem, but when you say 'reload', do you simply mean 'load the previous save'?

You should be able to add him to your party still, like any of the other chars. Are you meeting him at his house? After your first meeting, you can get him at his house. If you are trying to pick him up at the gov district right after your first meeting and saying no, then no it wont work. Go to his house in the evenings and he should be there and be able to join.

I realize that this topic is very old, but since it's one of the first hits when you google this problem and I managed to solve it (I ran into this bug on BG2EE), I thought I would post a solution:

1. What you can do is first enable debug mode in
C:\Users\[user name]\Documents\Baldur's Gate II - Enhanced Edition\Baldur.lua
by adding the line
SetPrivateProfileString('Program Options','Debug Mode','1')
somewhere in the file (just open it with a text editor).
Save the file and start BG2EE.

2. Go to the slums and press ctrl+blankspace. This will open up the debugger. Type the following command:
C:CreateCreature("JAN10")
This will spawn Jan. At least for me, he now initiates dialogue (trying to sell me illegal things) and the scene with the guard plays out. Since this does not take place in the government district, there will actually be no guard, but the dialogue will still show. Just say that you and Jan talked about the weather, and he will join your party.

I don't think you actually have to be in the slums for this to work, it was just where I tried it and got it to work. The "10" in JAN10 is the level he will be, you can replace this with any of the values 8,10,11,12 and 15 (I think).

I hope this helped. Hopefully it will get patched soon (if it is indeed a bug, which I suspect...)

doesn't turn up anything. The internal bug tracker is secret and not even read-only. It could be another bug they cannot fix because they don't know how. It could also be that one needs to rest and retry at Jan's house. I haven't heard about such a problem before.

yes some acting like you don't want him when you tell him you don't want him is a bug.

I wonder when beamdog will fix it, but I don't think they do surgery.
