Is there a point to gems/jewelry
Is there a point with gems like diamonds, rouge stones etc? Same goes with neclaces/rings that don't give buffs. Will they have some inherent use such as upgrades, or will I be better off just selling them?

In BG2 2 diamonds and one silver necklace can be used in one of the new quests. A rogue stone is valuable to keep on you for a secret. Beyond that, to my knowledge, sell 'em all

mostly they are just gold in other form, you can sell them all (and you can buy a couple of gem bag, so they don't occupy all your inventory).

Anyway, i will suggest you to keep a rogue stone (to access to the twsisted rune house, see some walkthrough to know where it is), a diamond and a beljuril (to upgrade the horn of Valhalla).

If you are planning to play Throne of Baal too, you can also keep: 5 Star Sapphires, 2 King's Tear, 2 rogue stone, 1 diamond, 1 emerald, 1 ruby and 1 sapphire. Those are needed to uograde some item by Cespenar's forge (it's like Cromwell forge)

Alrighty. Thanks for the information. I just wanted to make sure that I didn't just sell something that could be an end game-type equipment.

a diamond and a specific beljuril gem are needed to fully grade the Horn of Valhalla (in SoA).

The long and the short of it is that you will pick up tons of jewels and use 1% or less of them. Sell them and then if you run into spots where you need them you can always buy them back from that vendor, or google a location for one.
