Party & Party Equips (NPC and Equipment Spoilers)
Hullo! I like loot!
And part of the fun of any game is in getting and using nice equipment.

Was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on which NPCs to use so that the entire party can be rounded out with some nice equipment.
Preferably, all will be top tier equipment, but perhaps not necessarily so.

For eg.
I can imagine taking Jan along for his unique equips, and also because he fills a nice thief role in the party. (He would keep Xbows and interesting daggers)
Haer'Dalis would be interesting for his unique short swords, and also because a blade rocks and it might be nice to have improved bardsong when he hits HLAs. (Short swords and maybe returning daggers for ranged)
Maybe Keldorn just so someone can use Carsomyr? Also because, dispel... (2H swords, longswords...)
Maybe Jaheira just so someone can use druid equips... (Quarterstaffs, Scimitars...)

Hmm. That kind of rounds up the party actually, leaving a spot for rotating NPC quests.
Maybe the PC would be a fighter type to use Axes and Bastard swords. I think that covers most of the top tier weapon types? Though that means the party seems to lack a dedicated arcane...

Anyone have other suggestions? Maybe some of the EE NPCs might be interesting...

Ok I keep hearing people mention carsomyr. Where do I get it from? And also at the begining I got a gem for the pommel of a sword that I have held onto. Where do I look for the rest of the sword at? I do have the sword you get in the sewers. I equiped it on minsc.

I have the talking sword. Made my laugh my ass off when you ask it for advice.

I Had lilacor for all of 5 min on Minsc. Then I couldnt take it any longer and sold it/him, powerful enchantment be damned. Ras is the sword that can fight on its own for a turn or a round forgot which.

From the red dragon's corpse in Windspear Hills, talk to Lord Jierdan Fikraag in the Copper Coronet and accept the quest. When you enter Windspear Hills, the quest should trigger. Killing the dragon is optional but you wouldn't want to miss out on the armour you can make from the scales (good for Minsc/Dorn/warrior protagonist!). The dragon also drops the Carsomyr +5, which can only be wielded by a good paladin.

Rashaad's Talon +2 is given to you by the genie Khan Zafraa if you bring him the Raksasa enemy's head.

it also drops from the "Furious Genie" in Hexxat's last quest, a "boss" with nice experience. One of the reasons I love Hexxat's quests - the storylines and the loot (and experience from killing).

Funny, the name almost coincides with "Rasaad Bashir" the monk Party NPC. Kinda Arabian names... not surprising though, coz my first time hearing of a djinni would be in Disney's "Aladdin".

Ok I have the quest already. Just have not done it yet. my characters are level 10- 12 with my main character being a level 12 Paladin. What level do you suggest doing the quest at?

Rashaad's Talon is a generic +2 scimmy.
The dancing sword is a longsword I think and you buy it off a trademeet merchant after you get the genies to leave.

Yes one of the merchants next to the gate near the mayors mansion. Has anyone found the equlizer? Its the sword that you find a pommel gem for in Irenicus base at the begining of the game.

I have never forged Crom Feyr, for the reason mentioned; I prefer to give strength items to two party members rather than one. The upgraded +5 versions of FoA and Ravager are pretty much givens for high level weapons, not to mention Carsomyr for Keldorn or a paladin PC. If you are playing an evil party run through and have Dorn in the group, you can get him Ir'revrykal, the +5 Unholy Reaver, which is sort of like an "anti Carsomyr".

For an archer character there are several good bows, such as Firetooth and Gesen's bow. Any character with dual wielding skill will benefit from a speed weapon in the off hand. Celestial Fury is a pretty decent katana. And let's not forget Lilarcor; not only is it the only talking weapon in the game, it gives it's wielder a useful immunity.

Belm is a nice early weapon for Jaheira; it's only +2, but as a druid, her weapon choices are limited, and it IS a scimitar. Later on there are several decent spears and staves she can get. Ixil's Nail, Impaler, Staff of Thunder and Lightning come to mind.

Not a weapon, but considering how many vampires you end up fighting, the Amulet of Power is damned useful. Other goodies include the Ring of Gaxx and the Staff of the Magi. If you do her quests, Hexxat lets you hang onto her coffin shroud, which functions as a bag of holding; very useful when wondering where to stash all your miscellaneous loot.

Thanks for the tip on Dorn, my first playthrough with BG2 EE (I just purchased it from steam a week+ ago) and I'm loving Dorn and Hexxat, particularly for their quests and skills basically. I have Usuno's Blade +4 on Hexxat and Celestial Fury/Daystar/Foebane on Dorn, but maybe I should give him a two-handed sword instead since that's his proficiency. He has the Abyssal Blade though. I tend to alternate him between one-handed + shield proficiency and two-handed weapon proficiencies as the other fighter I've got is Korgan and he has five points in axes & three points in War Hammers (possible Crom Faeyr candidate).

A question on the Crom Faeyr: I have three out of the four items (hammer, gauntlet - i assume its hands of takkok?, and the scroll, but Cromwell only recognizes two of them, the hammer and the scroll. Is this normal?
Have you killed the shadow dragon yet? it gives you a scroll with a complete list of the needed componants. But have not figured out where to go to get it frged yet. and I have a girdle but its hill giant strengh. Have not found a girdle of frost giant strengh yet. I do have the hands of takkok. Hoping those count for the gauntlets. Also I have the shadow dragon scales. Any idea where to get them made into armor. And if I hold onto them for now can they be combined with red dragon scales when I kill fircrag which is the quest I am doing now.

Cromwell, the dwarven smith in the Docks district, will forge items in SoA for you. You won't get the final component for Crom Faeyr until the Underdark. You can't merge the 2 different dragon scales together, though that would certainly be cool...

Before I forget: someone mentioned the genies in Trademeet. Before finishing their quest, pickpocket the genie outside their tent! Depending on your skill level, maybe drink a potion of master thievery and/or use gloves of pickpocketing...needless to say, quick save before you try. You'll end up w/ a nice item! I assume you already pickpocketed Ribald in the Adventurer's Mart (Waukeen's Promenade) for a free Ring of Regeneration. And the Ring of the Ram from Tolgerias (Council of 6 bldg in the Govt District).

And so on...
