Solaufein
anyone wish you could recruit Solaufein? it just feels like you should have been able to do so.

There's a good mod for that I believe, you should check that out.

seems random, why him in particular? and not someone you could get earlier in your campaign?

Madulf, Yakman, Quayle, Fiirkaag.

just wondering why in hell would you want solaufein?

not really random for me. during your time in the drow city you have a bit of interaction with him. by the time you wrap things up to leave, you normally have that last interaction with him where he just tells you he is off to find other that don't worship the spider spider. however to me it just felt like a buildup that got dropped at the end of production where they could have had interaction dialog where you could have convinced him to join to you.

Firkraag does not make sense to me to have join the party, perhaps to hang around you and observe as a mere curiosity, but he did that anyways from a distance.

Quayle i could see joining the party

as for yakman and madulf. they don't apparantly don't stand out enough for me to make that consideration, i'll have to pay attention to them the next time i run through the game. so at the moment i have no opinion on them.

Yeah, I would've liked him in my party.

Because he is a somewhat developed character (unlike Madulf and Yakman) who would have a reason to join your party (unlike Firkraag).

There is no reason for Quayle, as he basically gets replaced by Aerie. But I agree that Solaufein would be a good choice, at least in non-EE, as there is a lack of evil warrior-type characters.
Honestly, BG2 should not have abandoned Montaron :(

ooo.... what would soulnafien's alignment be? i would say neutral, more likely neutral evil with dialog to get him to shift alignment either way.

Quayle was a companion in BG1, and his circus is rather wrecked so no real reason why he can't join as whatever... a cleric illusionist is different than Aerie. who is a divine whiner.

Jexvrok is a drow, viccy's allignment stayed evil the whole piece. Neutral evil.

I've recruited him in the original version with a mod, it even had a romance for the female characters. Really a great mod. I recommend Valen's mod aswell. I don't know if they are compatible with EE version.

On paper[forgottenrealms.fandom.com] he is lawful neutral.

Solaufein is my favorite example of how a game character doesn't need uber 3d models and animations or voice to be engaging and loveable. You just need good writing, not even lots of endless lines, just good.

He's a follower of Eilistraee[forgottenrealms.fandom.com], so NG, CG or CN.

However, his in game alignment is LN.

There's actually two Solaufein mods... the original one from Weimer[1] and jastey's Soulafein Rescue mod[2].

From what I could gather, weimer's one hasn't been ported to the EEs officially.

I haven't played any of them myself, but I have jastey's one in my EET install ready to roll for when I get the itch again to play BG... which always happens at least once a year :)

The best thing EE ever did was allow you to make a custom party in single player. It's nice for starting in BG1 and importing and adding characters like Shar-Teel, Montaron, Eldoth, ect to BG2.
Tho sometimes you have to get a lil creative with Montaron if you care about RP and are going to do the harper questline. Long story short, that's why I made Fat Montaron, the half orc. Who is either Montaron cursed to be a half-orc, or a half-orc who ate Montaron who then adopted his persona/life and the group, being evil, did not care.

Montaron is awesome and I love that you can include missing characters from BG1 into 2, albeit in a janky way, but a mod free way.
