I'm trying, very hard trying, but hexxat... blergh ***some spoilers***
First of all, i meant no offence to any person with this thread, this is just a catharsis thread.

To the point, i'm truly trying, but not even among mods i saw a so brutally crap dialogue as the one made for Hexxat, more today as i tried to recruit her with a neutral/good party.

I played with her before, some times with evil parties, the dialogue is grating even with an evil party, but if you try to speak with her with a good/neutral party, it's clear that this... terrible work didn't even considered the possibility of a good/neutral party to take the quest.

I just reloaded about 5 timees, because i feel compeled to use the most reasonable answer, and not the meta game answer, kill her. Because she's a vampire? No, because she's stupid. It's like someone throw a glass of water in my face and immediately say as if nothing happened: "what's up, let's hang together?".

Clara is stupidly bland and poor made, and even so, surprisingly, better than the true product.

True Hexxat kill my party member (Clara) in my face, take it as nothing at all, don't give a proper excuse, think i just have to be ok with that and give (cloak) and do (carry her coffin) whatever she want, and if i refuse she shout some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ like "we could have done great things together".

Despite my ranting and need to blurt it out (again, i believe i did it already in beamdog forums years ago), i have a very serious question. Never before Philip Daigle - Hexxat writer afaik -, or whoever wrote her (if my source is wrong and it's not Philip) thought of remake, uptade, improve this ... questionable work, not even for a sense of legacy?

I'm not programmer, but i would serious be ashamed to let this kind of impression defile my history as a professional through the ages.

Obs: If a mod exist to rewrite Hexxat dialogues and anyone reading this can tip me to it, i will be thankfull.

I agree with you 100 % on Hexxat's poor dialouge. When you first meet Clara in the Copper Coronet, oh boy that is some poor writing. But that is also true for Dorns first Wedding Crashing Quest and both Neera and Rashad are bad in my opinion. Alot of the dialouge options simply does not make sense or fit into the conversation.

With Hexxat I end up just fast clicking it as fast as i can.

And the initial meeting with Hexxat and Clara's death is also awful. But i think Hexxat can grow on you, as her Quest progress and her Romance get going. I think it gets better further down the road. Never really good, but not 'total crap' 'Always'.

Can she be killed? She turns to mist form like most Vampires when killed. I have never explored this when she is 'not' in my party. Vampires has to be destroyed by the Coffin in some rulesets, and i wonder what happens if she has not given her coffin to you and is killed by you. Will her mist form travel to The Copper Coronet, and can she join party at a later stage ?

I have some exploring to do....

beamdog already failed when they didn't give the option to save Clara and kill Hexxat, even if her personal quest would've been BG1 tier and something simple. Nothing about her is likable. She's an excellent example of "smartass" that I always kill on my playthroughs regardless of rep loss

I don't mind Clara being saved or not, it would be interesting if possible, but not necessary. If the script wrote for hexxat wasn't so bad, people wouldn't even notice Clara (and Clara script is also detestable, like, i will make her as a deranged mind controled person so i don't have to do much work in her personality).

Anyway i give up on Hexxat. I made the entire current game based on recruiting her, but i will adapt to something else.

On my current character, I started her quest. Went through 90% of the tomb to get the XP and any loot. I then stranded her there "just" before making the last move to where the change occurs. So "Clara" could not reach it and Hexxat couldn't be released.

What I did was to move her ahead of the party as we were going down the last corridor, then cast haste on the rest and started back toward the entrance. As I got close, I used the reform party button, booted her out and then left the tomb. You have to be out of sight when you ditch her, so she cannot initiate the "you want me to leave" dialogue. If she does that she will reappear in the corner of the Copper Coronet. This way no more Hexxat lurking in the Copper Coronet.

I've always patched Hexxat in all my play though... after reading this I am glad I do. You still meet her in ToB and she acts like you spent so much time together, and she misses you even if you totally ignore Clara in SoA - This in itself is stupid and terrible writing.

im not sure i care for any of the EE. Too new agey, out of place. Sirene mod npc in bg1 was cool, less so so far in bg2. Fade looks promising in bg2.

I'm not nostalgic, old BG was good, but even if Beamdog didn't made our perfect deam BG they surely gave us a better game than the old one.

Of course, the feeling was always of a half made job, like. Shamans sound like out of place, extremely poor balanced and blackguards lack of a stronghold always bothered me. Also, the indepth personality and quest line of the new companions is a bit lacking.

But i can say for sure, as someone that play this game for almost 20 years: i have no regrets in playing the enhanced edition, for all that it may lack, it is still a better outcome than old BG to play in nowday machines.

Oh for sure. Being able to have kits exported to bg2 is a massive improvement alone. I meant purely the npcs, though Rasaad wasnt that bad.
Rasaad is the only likeable beamdog companion. And he is voiced by Mark Meer as a bonus lol. The rest of their companions are modern low grade cringe but so is their writing in general.

Fade is an excellent companion mod and the only romance i like aside from bioware ones. Really a product of better time. I'm glad the ToB part got finished years after the original author retired from modding. Thanks to some other modmaker.

I like Hexxat, one of my favourites. The only one i didn't like was Rasaad i didn't like his quest, he just isn't likeable and i find him a but useless and annoying
Kamuizin Apr 13, 2023 @ 5:13pm
Saerileth can cheer up now, she's not the most annoying NPC anymore.

I fear the hearing of your reasons.

This is a common sentiment in the community. You can try using the following mod instead: https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/71473/megamod-3-05-mazzy-romance-clara-npc-darkside-anomen-flying-aerie-for-the-evil-more-done/p1

Hexxat's quest is actually pretty cool. The first time I played EE and did it I enjoyed the plot twist.
I like to pick her up, send her outside without her sun protection cloak on to kill her, then kick her from the party and use her coffin as an early game free bag of holding.... :p

I do the exact same thing.
