With Hexxat I end up just fast clicking it as fast as i can.
And the initial meeting with Hexxat and Clara's death is also awful. But i think Hexxat can grow on you, as her Quest progress and her Romance get going. I think it gets better further down the road. Never really good, but not 'total crap' 'Always'.
Can she be killed? She turns to mist form like most Vampires when killed. I have never explored this when she is 'not' in my party. Vampires has to be destroyed by the Coffin in some rulesets, and i wonder what happens if she has not given her coffin to you and is killed by you. Will her mist form travel to The Copper Coronet, and can she join party at a later stage ?
I have some exploring to do....
I don't mind Clara being saved or not, it would be interesting if possible, but not necessary. If the script wrote for hexxat wasn't so bad, people wouldn't even notice Clara (and Clara script is also detestable, like, i will make her as a deranged mind controled person so i don't have to do much work in her personality).
Anyway i give up on Hexxat. I made the entire current game based on recruiting her, but i will adapt to something else.
What I did was to move her ahead of the party as we were going down the last corridor, then cast haste on the rest and started back toward the entrance. As I got close, I used the reform party button, booted her out and then left the tomb. You have to be out of sight when you ditch her, so she cannot initiate the "you want me to leave" dialogue. If she does that she will reappear in the corner of the Copper Coronet. This way no more Hexxat lurking in the Copper Coronet.
I'm not nostalgic, old BG was good, but even if Beamdog didn't made our perfect deam BG they surely gave us a better game than the old one.
Of course, the feeling was always of a half made job, like. Shamans sound like out of place, extremely poor balanced and blackguards lack of a stronghold always bothered me. Also, the indepth personality and quest line of the new companions is a bit lacking.
But i can say for sure, as someone that play this game for almost 20 years: i have no regrets in playing the enhanced edition, for all that it may lack, it is still a better outcome than old BG to play in nowday machines.
Fade is an excellent companion mod and the only romance i like aside from bioware ones. Really a product of better time. I'm glad the ToB part got finished years after the original author retired from modding. Thanks to some other modmaker.
I fear the hearing of your reasons.
I like to pick her up, send her outside without her sun protection cloak on to kill her, then kick her from the party and use her coffin as an early game free bag of holding.... :p
I do the exact same thing.
