Umar Hills help.

Ok I have basically spoken to Valgyr or whatever and didn't take him right away. I was trying to complete the other quest and I found Mazzy's note with the map in the ranger cabin. I do not have Mince meat with me as I never allowed him to Join. And there should be a map point just north of the Umar Hills but it is not showing up? Is this because of the fact I do not have Mince with me?

You do not need Minsc at all. But go to town and talk to the Mayor to get knowhow of what is going on. Then once you find the ranger cabin and read all the scripts inside you should be able to travel to the woods north once you are at the edge of the map.

You basically have to get the quest first i think, from the man in charge, the governor/mayor.

Check your log to see what it says about all Umar Hills entries.

I have done all that already. And I am getting nothing. I will double check

No I did not pick up the journal, I only have Mazzy's note

The temple ruins map unlock requires a different item from the cabin that you picked up the journal from. I had the same issue I remember way back at release - easy to miss it.

Well I suggest you speak to the mayor if you haven't, also, there are some nice side quests in town worth doing (speak to manduf the ogre and the juggernaut golem are two of note, also, there is a WHAT in the chicken gets you a rare gem, so rare there is only two in the game) I THINK some of these side quests become unavailable after completing the temple but not sure... However, on topic, speaking to the mayor can give you clues which will be exhausted, except for the cabin. The mayor is the main quest giver too.
