Is level 30 obtainable in ToB with a full party?
I'm about to head into ToB for the first time, and had expectations that I would be completing the game with everyone at level 30 (to get the Lv30 achievements). I'm beginning to wonder if there's actually enough content/experience points available to obtain Lv30 with a full party.

I would think it is quite possible. I unlocked the level 30 achievement for a cleric recently in TOB and have a full party, my main character and 5 NPCs. I did Watcher's Keep, Saradush, and was in the middle of the Fire Giants when that occurred. Still a lot of the game left. I am playing core rules. Minsc is level 25 and should get there, Imoen is a little behind because of Spellhold so that is debatable. Jan, being multi-class, will not make it even as a thief. He will can make 28th level thief but that's it.

Now, if you mean a full party that you created (no NPC's) it will depend on their class. A multi-class cannot due to the experience cap of 8,000,000 (unless you have a mod that removes the cap). The reason being that the most experience a multi-class can achieve (with the cap) is 4,000,000 experience points. That won't make level 30 in any class. A single class or a character that has dual classed should be able to make it.

I recently used the mod to merge bg1, dragonspire, bg2 and tob, to make a giant story. And I got level 30+ right in the middle of ToB, that was a lot of fun doing the adventure from lv 1 to max from start to finish without any cut.

I would imagine that with doing all EE companion side quests, it is quite possible. Those quests have a plethora of XP and loot.

It's not quite easy to hit the cap of 8mil exp cap, but still pretty darn possible, you can also abuse Derro area of Sendai's Enclave for easy exp.

Easiest "legit" way to get XP is to just defend the walls of Saradush. Unless Beamdog patched it, you can just camp at the north-east walls and endlessly shoot at the giants off screen.

edit: Just tested. It still works but its kinda boring. You just position your party at this spot and have them auto shoot at the attackers across the water.

Glad it worked for you Hopper. I tried to do that recently but couldn't target anything. It worked for me in the original TOB (pre-EE) but I could not see any giants to target this go around. Any tips?

You can't manually target them, you have to enable AI and your characters should start shooting at the unseen enemies

Ah, makes perfect sense. I almost always turn the AI off and control the party members myself. Thanks!

You can also save scum the machine of Lum the Mad for the XP reward (100000 XP) but I'm not sure if it's faster or slower than other methods.

That said, level 30 should be fairly easy to reach for most single class characters (excepting Mages, Sorcerers, Paladins and Rangers)

I have reached level 34 with a paladin and a full party. I have taken the xp reward from the machine of Lum the mad (to split between all the companions) and do any possible quest.

Answer is yes, but is is a bit of work. Avoid Npc's that are multi-class, like Jan and Aerie.

Decide ahead or early who you want to have in the party, all 6 of them. Then do minor NPC quests well before you hit 1.500.000 XP.

Once you are at 1,5 mill xp you are at the max xp of NPC joining. Meaning if you have 5 members at 4 million, and take on a new NPC then, it will start at 1.5 million and lag behind.

Sometimmes it is easy to pre-pick the full 6 man, like if you want to take all the Evil ones. Dorn, Korgan, Viconia and Hexxat can all be picked up right after start of Ch. 2, Hexxat need a bit of dungeon Crawl to be the Vampire and Edwin is also fast as the Thief Quest can be done in minutes.

Mazzy is far away, as is Valgyar, but they are not hard to reach if you just want to pick them up. The hardest is Haerdalis. he is truly far far away before he can become party member :)

Haer'Dalis can be picked up as soon as you feel confident to take on the sewer group and Mekrath, which shouldn't be a problem well before 1.5 mil XP. You can have him in the party and not go back to Raelis, postponing the second quest indefinitely. He will complain about it, but he'll stay - unless EE changed it.

I'm not entirely sure since it's been years since I went to ud asap, but I don't see why not.

Hmm... Now I actually feel kinda bad, because I let Imoen rot in Spellhold every time until I'm done with all areas except Watcher's Keep (I leave it alone, until ToB). Sure, it bites me later, if she gets underleveled, but usually it's only minor inconvenience. I blame the lengthy stronghold questlines and addition of new tempting areas in EE for it.
