Black blade of disaster no 5 stars proficiency (for fighter-mage) bug
Hello, I just noticed a really nasty bug: if your fighter-mage have stars in long sword or single weapon style, your Black blade doesnt give you a 5 stars. The same bug I encountered in Icewind dale EE. And this is a big problem since I want to put 2 stars in longswords to use them before I get Black blade.
So have you encountered this bug, or maybe its just my char broken?

Errr... Doesn't the spell augment your THAC0 or damage rolls? Not your actual proficiency points allocation? Not sure, just going with the spell's description.

its should give you grandmastery (5 points) in long sword prof if you are fighter-mage multi or dual, and it does, but only if you dont have a single point in both long swords and single weapon profs which is the bug
if you have 2 stars in longsword you will have 2 stars in long swords during this spell, if you dont have points in longsword and have a single weapon prof, you will be using Black blade with penalty since it wont give you a single proficiency point!

It should be giving you 5 proficiency points in long swords when you cast it (the only way that multiclassed fighter/mages can get GM). If it's not doing that, it's a bug. I normally don't give my Fighter/Mages any proficiency points in long swords for that reason. I'll test a bit later and let you know my results.

The spell's been through some changes. Here's the wiki page on it.[baldursgate.fandom.com]

Well if you're into exploits, the wiki says there's a bug that permanently gives you grand mastery in long swords if you dual class while under the effect of this spell. It sounds like you would have to start with zero pips in long sword though if what you're saying is right about the grand mastery not working if you already have proficiency. You would also have to dual class FROM mage to something else which most people don't do.

I just tested and can confirm the bug.

Bob with no proficiency with long swords before casting BBoD:

Bob with no proficiency with long swords after casting BBoD:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2843036296

Note that he now has 5 pips in long swords.

Bob with specialization in long swords before casting BBoD:

Bob with specialization in long swords after casting BBoD:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2843035606

Note that he still has 2 pips in long swords.

I did use EE keeper to set up Bob for the tests, but that shouldn't make a difference.

I'm running v2.6.6.0

In wiki, it quotes there's a bug and the 5 level specialization become permanent after the cast. Lol, it's weird it's never been fixed.

Strange bug. Just did a quick test and it works on NPCs but not on any custom created character.

thanks, its not just me then, but Im really surprised there is no info about this bug, it is pretty bad one, because it could ruin hours of your gameplay before you discover it

Ok, I checked this and the recommended mod actually makes a lot changes that I am not sure how it could affect the game experience. Maybe after I complete a run or two. Sucks about missing the level 9 spells though. I guess I'll have to be content with Imoen casting the level 9 spells for me. LOL.
