The Find Familiar Spell
I believe there has been a problem with this spell from day 1, mainly when you got from SoA to ToB, you don't get the extra Hit-points from the upgraded familiar. I just wait to ToB to use the spell, but is there another way so solve this issue without adjusting your hit-points with ShadowKeeper or something? or am I using the spell wrong?

I had the opposite experience, when importing you get the extra HP again since the Familiar is an item that gets removed from your inventory but the extra HP it provided aren't.

Yeah I have had that one before too, but going from SoA to ToB seems to just not give you the extra points, even though the familiar upgrades

I would suggest using EEKeeper to fix the HP.

I think that this export has been fixed in the current build. E.g. my lvl 1 mage in BG1 had 4 starting HP which was increased to 10 HP after casting the find familiar spell but importing the lvl 1 mage into BG2 resulted in the "correct" 4 HP.

Edit to add: You could also manually import the character into ToB which removes the bonus health and gets rid of the familiar thereby allowing you to summon a new one.

Thanks, I see it is still a thing then... I really should try this EEKeeper out sometime.

There is no bug. You simply has to cast it anew when you are into TOB. The transition from BG1 to 2 is normal. The familiar is removed but you DO NOT suffer CON loss. You start to play in BG 2 and cast the spell and you have your HP back again.

Same for TOB. You cast the Spell and you get the correct HP. The familiar is supposed to be removed so you CAN cast it anew and get better bonuses.

that is the thing, last time I still had the familiar when I started ToB. I think I tried casting it and nothing happened. It was a while ago though, now I just save it for ToB

Do you remember if you had the familiar loose or in the Backpack? Maybe that affects the transfer. It is supposed to not transfer.

You could reload a save after the last Battle (or in it) and check for consistency. Just to know for sure.

And Killing it and recasting it may be a choice, depending on your CON stat and what Class you play. You will drop 1 point in CON when it dies, and that "May" loose you 9 HP. and the bonus 12 (or 9 if evil). But you gain 24 when you recast it, for a net 3-6 HP in plus?

I think you nailed it mate, if I try taking it out my pack it may basically stay in hell. I will try firing up my old lap top and see if I still have the save - it would be good to know. Appreciate your help with this. It only came to mind again as I am currently having a playthough as a Kensai mage for the first time.

Sadly the cat made it out of hell out my pack as well! I am just saving the spell for ToB - this is a very old bug they will never fix

Just want to let you know, that if you play on LOB mode, the familiar gets 68 HP and thus you get +34 HP.

And it gets Fast Regen, and much better AC and Thac0. In Lob games i have had a ton of fun with the Pseudo Dragon. I have it loose all the time and it hits almost every enemy and Stun them for a whopping 2 turns (20 rounds). Great Fun.

If it dies though, it is insta kill on your Character for some strange reason, even if i have Fighter Levels and high HP.

The math i think goes like this. You loose 1 CON point, ususally -9 HP, AND you loose TWICE the Familiars HP (68 x 2) for a total of 136 + 9 = 145 HP = InstaKill

I will test this once i have a Character with more than 145 HP, which for mages is kinda late game, if at All. My Beastmaster Ranger is close soon.
