Anything that prevents ability drain from Mind Flayers?
Is there anything in the game at all, that will prevent your intelligence ability score of going down when hit by illitids and mind flayers?

So far I have been buffing my warrior out of his mind with armor class and chugging genius potions, but is there a simpler way?

There is no legitmate way to achieve this (you would have to use EEKeeper to add the relevant oppcodes or cheat items).

However, there is really no need - skeletons are immune to psionics and int drain so all you need to do is pelt them with arrows while the skeletons block the doorway. Mordenkainen's swords work great too.

What about protection from magical weapons or mantle? I know it's only 4 rounds but would it help?

the mind flayer INT drain requires a hit yes.

generally I would summon 5 animate deads and use them to distract the enemy while charging in with haste and chaotic commands and just getting the job done.

send in undead.

send in warriors with chaotic commands and improved haste 5 seconds later.

mop up.

but an AC of -10 should mean they can only hit you on a roll of 20 generally negating the ability.

If you have Gate spell, the Pit Fiend is immune to +2 and lower weapons... and since Mind Flayers attack counts as +2, they can't put a dent on it. Still gets stunned by those psyc. blasts, but that just means it ain't stealing your XPs.

Skeletons seems like a legitimate way, so, I mean, that's an answer^^
I've never actually tried mindless undead before which I should have figured out.. I just forget about them honestly as a weaker summon.. but yeah any cleric should be able to spam them no problem for the few mindflayer areas.

I use Potions of Mind Focusing to get everyone's DEX up to max, Potions of Speed to double movement and attacks, I have a high level Cleric cast Chaotic Commands on every character (Spell duration is 1 turn/level which should equal a couple hours of game time). If you use Wonderous Recall immediately after casting two Chaotic Commands you get them back so be sure to do that so you have plenty on hand to go around and reapply as needed. Also I use a lot of poison bolts and arrows. They may be magic resistant, but they're not poision resistant. I pause a lot and miro manage the battles at every step. It's doable but it is a chore.

just use mordekain's sword with haste then it is a walk in the park

Animate dead is a HUGELY useful spell, which can be used by both clerics and mages. At higher levels of summoner, they take a decent amount of HP, use +1 weapons, are immune to normal weapons, and have high MR. I use them all the time against mind flayers, githyanki, other undead and even umber hulks. Mind you, Umber hulks chew them up fairly fast, but the skellies can do some damage and distract the hulks while you pelt them with spells and whatnot.

Just b careful not to hit them with AOE spells or use turn undead, since this will turn them hostie against you.

I remember how ticked off I got when Neverwinter Nights came out with a cap that made you immune to touch by mind flayers. One of the most terrifying enemies in BG 2 was suddenly made a ilaughing stock, and it got my goat. Such a terrifying enemy should not be so easily negated. One of the MANY reasons I hated Neverwinter Nights.
