EE - SOA or TOB

i have enhanced edition and started a SOA game. to get the TOB extras do i need to start a game choosing that? not sure if TOB is an extra game or plays the original game with the extra content?

TOB is the expansion to SOA. You play SOA first, then once you are finished with the game the game automatically will transfer you to the TOB content.

SOA story content ---->>>> TOB story content. It has to be played in that order or it won't make sense.

You may of course start just the TOB part. Experienced players do this to just try a new flavour. It still seems to be the consensus that the game is best when played in the right order.

TOB campaign would not make much sense to a first timer.

Some even think that you should play BG 1 before any 2 stuff, but that is not my recomendation. Still worth it to go the occasional lvl 1 - lvl 40 - Demigod way. Occasionally.

I think OP is a newcomer. That's why SOA-> TOB

thanks guys. i played these games back in the day and i never really invested much time into bg2 and i sort of rushed through it. now i better understand some mechanics so im replaying them. i just finished BG1 EE so now im finishing BG2 EE.

I recommend going SOA then TOB since you can get some niffty permanent "buffs" to the charater at times in the SOA version that makes TOB a tad bit more manageable
