Korgan is also a stronger NPC than Valygar, if you're interested in that. And while he is listed as Chaotic Evil, his actions and role play are really more Chaotic Neutral in my opinion.
But my issue here is reputation, I do not want (with good party) occasionaly kill innocents to keep rep on level that evil NPC wont leave:o
This is interesting, I haven't participated in a post about comparing companions based purely on the conflicts and relationships they'll have with each other in a while. Now out of the two males you suggested the one that has the more flair is Valygar since he flirts, something you discovered yourself. Be careful with this, there is certain female in the game that gets interested in him (in her own way) and gets very scorned when Valygar doesn't respond to her advances, so she resorts to harass him and if you talk to certain prosti tute hanging around in the government district she'll start to taunt Valygar to the point they'll fight. Chicks in BG2 seem to have a thing for Valygar. Keldorn is also interesting, especially if you have Anomen in your party and you are doing his story-line. Kit-wise Keldorn vastly outclasses Valygar in my opinion. Inquisitors are powerhouses in BG2, while Stalkers are just cool guys with moves. So from a game-play perspective the obvious choice is Keldorn.
I would like to add Minsc to the fold too due Keldorn interaction but party is not unlimited:p Think next time I will do it with Haer Dalis seducing Aerie in front of Minsc eyes too (so Keldorn can keep him calm down:p
Mazzy and Keldorn is more about one praising the other more or less, bit of meh for me.
Keldorn and Valygar i don't remember.
If you really really want the spices of NPC banters here are some suggestions:
Male MC romancing Aerie + Haer'Dalis in party
Haer'Dalis will try to flirt with aerie, giving some spice dialogues in this love triangle
Keldorn + Minsc:
This one is power game useful. Minsc berserk normally make him uncontrolable (unlike the fighter berserker class). If Minsc goes berserker with Keldorn in Party, at the end of his rage, Keldorn will start a scripted banter. This will happen 3 times for 3 of minsc's berseker skills (don't know if they need to be somewhat near when minsc zerk end).
At each banter between Keldorn and Minsc after the zerk skill end, the next time you zerk Minsc will be less likely to go uncontrolable. After 3 banters, minsc berserker don't make him uncontrolable anymore
Minsc + Aerie
At some point he will make Aerie his new which. High single damage on aerie will make minsc attack whoever did it (i believe even party members if AoE friendly fire is responsible), and if Aerie dies after she became his Witch, he goes berserker (auto use of skill)
Keldorn + Jan Jansen
The most hilarious bully ever, i even feel sad for Anomen, and he's an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Jan Jansen wits are used to maximum potential here
Imoen + Secret character (ToB)
If Imoen share her soul with Sarevok in your place, there are some pretty funny dialogues, as Sarevoke says he's becoming a fluffly because of Imoen's soul
Now some important (but spoiler) information about party incompatibility:
Anomen: If you choose to fail his Radiant Heart quest, he will become Chaotic Neutral. In this path, he will eventually attack Keldorn and Aerie, and it's impossible to keep Anomen with them in the same party.
Edwin: Edwin will eventually come to blows with Minsc and Keldorn. But a funny fact, Valygar will not conflict with Edwin.
Obs: I don't remember if this is real or gossip, but during Edwin quest, when the nether scrolls reverse his gender, Minsc will not recognize Edwina.
Viconia: Keldorn and viconia are incompatible and Keldorn will eventually give an 24h ultimatum for her to leave the party, after that, if he or she are still in party, he will attack her.
Obs: Viconia isn't incompatible with Valygar, but if both are in party and you speak with a specific woman in Government District, she will mock him and provoke a fight to death,
Jan Jansen: If in Underdark, when you make the drow quest of kill the svirfneblin, you chose to kill the party, if i'm not wrong (i don't remember perfect on this), he will turn hostile on the party and you will lose the character.
Nalia: If in D'arnisen Keep you turn hostile on Lady Delcia through dialogue, Nalia will turn hostile on the party and you will lose the character.
Korgan: Korgan may challenge your character for leadership of the party. Be cautious with this, cos as far as i remember, he will kill you if he can on this. If you manage to drop his health to a specific low point he will yield. But if you somehow hit too hard he will die. The problem is, if i'm not wrong he leave the party for this fight, so, if you kill him, he's gone for good.
Keldorn: Keldorn has a personal family matter and, if you're too considerate and tell him to take care of his family at the end of his quest, he's gone for good. You can give him some time with his family and he will return later.
Jaheira: Be careful if you're doing her quest and play a low reputation party, at some point of her quest, if you reputation is too low, she will turn on you in the middle of a huge fight.
That's all that i remember atm. I will post more later, if i remember more.
What is Jaheira's excuse for that?!
"I'm meant to look after you, but now, you must die."
Edwin and Valygar have dialogue, and Edwin works something out about Val, but yeah, they don't seem to fight to the death.
Do not know about Korgan - ended game with him dozen times and never ever experienced anything liek that, it must be triggered by something. High rep perhaps?
With Jaheira i think this is also not so transparent - very complex chain of events that si further complicate by romancing (or not). You cna check eg. comments on wiki and she fought along party with rep 8 while turn on highest rep... so dunno. I did went through with her like twice till vey finale fight and Elminster meeting, but think in game I was in romance with her the progress stoped and was buged completely. Otherwise msot interesting/rewarding companion questline for sure, she is just nto big preference for me to fit any party.
I akm actually plannning take my halfing archer to BG2 team and go with Aerie, Haer Dalis, Minsc, Keldorn and Jan so I expect lot of fun.
For reference in this game I stayed with Keldorn too - but for any reason he interacts only with Anomen dont recall he changed a word with Mazzy ever which is kind of dissapointing after all:p
As far as i remember, the reputation that make her hostile is 6 or less, in that specific fight.
The Harper part of Jaheira personal quest is longer if you're romancing Jaheira, as some of the events of that quest will only appear after a set number of LoveTalk happens.
This team formation you mentioned is good as:
Jan will keep the whole game trying to steal Boo from minsc, Minsc will make Aerie her new which, Keldorn will upgrade Minsc and has a good relationship with aerie, Haer'dalis will spice your relationship and Aerie and Jan will get along pretty well as aerie love gnomes
