what's overall better for a Kensai/Mage dual class, Bastards, Longs, katana, or quarterstaff?
I'm just shooting for a general ballpark here, doesn't have to be exact math because I realize these are all fine choices, i'd just like to hear people sound off on what they think is overall the best choice to Grandmaster, or if i should skip grandmastery and just split between katanas and quarterstaffs for Celestial Fury and Staff of the Ram?

Bastard-Foe Bane, and is immediatly accessible. Later on, Foebane+5 and Jhor's Bleeder. People are big on Foebane. it seems to do a ton of damage from what I can see. Foebane+5 may or may not be bugged, though, i've read in the past that it was.

Longsword-most choice. start with sword of flame for trolls, daystar for undead, blackrazor for late game, there seems to be a longsword for almost every combat situation.

Katana-Celestial Fury. For some reason, the stun procs constantly, and the stun is so useful its almost like they are already dead. Seems to be the most powerful weapon in SoA... but, thats it, it doesn't go beyond +3. it isn't going to be very useful in TOB, if at all.

Quarterstaff-Staff of the Magi, Staff of the Ram. Magi is awesome, but late game and locked behind a suitably difficult encounter. Staff of the ram does the most damage but its TOB. in SOA there's like...Staff Spear...and Staff Mace...and Rhynn's+4 Staff, that all it does, is a +4 staff...So, in SOA its an underwhelming choice. Also, being two hands, doesn't let you offhand belm, which seems not great.

I've read liliura's guide on kensai/thief dual class and she reccomends celestial fury and then staff of the ram, but she's looking at it from backstabs, of which i'm not building for, since i'm a Kensage. There's also a thing where her blog appears to be from bg2, not bg2:EE, because it talks about grandmastery being nerfed, and from what I read, bg2:EE returned grandmastery to bg1's charts except it reads the extra attacks correctly.

What do YOU think?

I played through LoB-ToB with Blackrazor and aside from a handful of enemies, the +3 was good enough for that. Just make sure to carry a +4/+5 weapon around in one of the other weapon slots.

Scimitar (Belm and Star-i-dont-remmember -sold on the trader of Cooper Cornet) and katana (Dakón and Celestial fury)

Foe bane +5 is awesome but you will be a bit short of other bastards through the game becouse there are not so many of them. Staffs works fine but you will not get as much APR as you get with for example belm and celestial fury dual wield. I would say katana for SoA and most of ToB and foebane +5 later on. And yes celestial fury works fine in ToB its not that many enemies that requires +4 or +5 weapons.

Eh, i preferred axes for the axe of the unyielding and throwing axes.

Question of preference. You can go for Flail of ages, as with improved haste + tenser transformation you will hit with a lot of APR. Belm (scimitar), kundane (short sword) and scarlet brotherhood (ninja-to, same prof as scimitar), give +1 extra APR, you can put one of those on second hand for extra APR (but i don't recommend using 2 of them togheter, as they're weak weapons).

Anyway, kensai/mage dual wield is already powerful enough by itself, as a single game don't focus too much in power play, this build is already at the pinacle.

I played a long time ago but 1h axes allow you to use throwing axes.

The vorpal ax was really good later in the game.

I'm on Katana/Scimtar personally
EDIT : Now that i have the Celestial Fury I'm on this + Blade of Dak'kon but I hesitate to keep the Belm and CF instead

I don't see much value in +1 to lvl 1 to 4 spells late game, as you can put something better in the off-hand.

Your right
I was still in the second chapter at this time ^^"
But this cumulate to little +1 AC give more survivability at "low" levels ; for the moment ennemies have hard time to hit my MC and I like it that way
Maybe latter I will change when it will be obsolete !

I give Dak'Kon to My Thief/Mage, and use the oft hand with what ever Long sword or Bastard Sword that best fits the battle. Celestial Fury is always my main weapon.
