CDTweaks crashes on startup

I was interested in modding the game for the "Multiple Strongholds" since I always do the De'Arnise one and want to get a different stronghold, and really just want to try them all in a single playthrough... unfortunately, I cannot get the game to run after installing the mod through CDTweaks. Currently, it flashes between "Play" and "Running" and then back to "Play" meaning it crashes instantly on startup. I followed the guide for Linux... I tried `modmerge` but I don't have the DLC file it is looking for and it fails. Has anyone had any experience getting this to work?

BG2EE doesn't need this step to install mods due to BG2EE not having zipped DLCs. Not sure if it's CDTWEAKS or you fiddeling around with modmerge on your BG2EE install causing the crash.
Did you folllow the steps in the readme -> linux installation section from the CDTweaks mod?

Anyway, if you have a clean install BG2EE backup restore it (delete your current installation) and try it again without modmerge and following the readme instruction. If you don't have a clean install, then delete your current BG2EE game folder and let Steam redownload it. Simply uninstalling your mod doesn't cut it. There are residue files in the override folder, your dialogue files are contaminated as well as your chitin files.

Make a copy of the fresh and clean BG2EE game folder in case you haven't. Copy it somewhere else and name it BG2EE - Backup or something like that.
