Can i go to planar prison later?

In the quest "Rescue Raelis And...", they just opened the portal and were captured by bounty hunters. Looks like the place is a prison. I entered and got slaughtered, I am a level 13 ranger. Can i go back to the portal later on game? I think i need to level up a little and i am afraid the portal will "expire".

IIRC, the prison does stick around. But, unless you're playing on LoB difficulty, you should be able to tackle it at level 13. The Yuan-Ti mages could give you trouble (protect yourself from enchantment spells and have some breaches ready), so target them and the Bounty Hunter first as soon as you enter, everything else should be fairly easy at this point.

The problem is that my party is getting teleported to another part of the map, i dont know how to proced with a split party.

In the planar prison you need to move very carefully, so you don't get sucked into the lower level of the dungeon by those things on the floor. Better not stay close to those things while fighting.

I am an archer and my party is Minsc, Jaheira, Aerie, Nalia and Yoshimo

should be fine, just time crossing the holes better to either go down together or not go down at all.

I normally put this off longer but its not required. level 13 animate deads off Nalia should be fine, not sure what Aerie has...opens web page. 1.5 Million XP so Aerie should have decent enough animate dead to carry with Cleric and mage side.

Thanks for the replies. Some things i left behind besides planar prison: planar sphere, shadow dragon, Fikraag, 4 liches, mindflayer lair. I explored every corner of the world map of chapter 2, there are some quests i need to finish, but looks easier than these i cited.
Edit: forgot to mention that i left wartcher keep for later too. Actually i think i will do the first level right now.

Basically you use pause a lot, and play it really carefully. It is a tough challenge.
