Freeing the Djinni quest not giving Sword of Chaos +2

What item is he giving to you? I dont played baldur gate 2 EE yet, only the regular version, maybe is he aready giving another item based on your main character?

It has been changed multiple times since the original game. Temporarily, the Cambion was the one to own the sword, whereas Malaaq handed out a weapon based on a secret priority list as to match imported party inventory or character weapon skills. Patch notes for 2.5 mention the djinn again, so perhaps something has changed again?

I got the bastard sword +1 from the cambion and the flametongue from the table in the golem

Ok, it is working now. I probably just missed it last night. There was some other weirdness going on in the game, I got 5 helms of balduran, so I think I was just overly suspicious.

You got 5 helms of balduran because you imported your party...that should make things easier though

I have a question about importing from SoD...do you do it at the very beginning when you are in Irenicus' Dungeon? What do you do about Imoen, Jaheira, Minsc and ultimately Yoshimo? Can they be safely ignored or do you interact with them and tell them to make their own way out? Just curious, I'm thinking about doing a custom party run and wasn't sure how this would work.

When you import the weapon the djinn gives changes depending on what items you had. (there's a few other spots and items that do this as well).

If you had Varscona or Ashideena (and 1 more I can't remember), he'll give you one of those instead. Everyone else gets Sword of Chaos +2.

if you use the Ascension mod, that makes him always give the Sword of Chaos+2 as there's extra Ascension stuff included for it.

I usually play a berserker, and the genie usually gives me the warhammer +2 the evil cleric in the area south of Beregost was carrying. the one with 5,000 gold reward on him. The Cambion hands Minsc the +2 2 handed sword.
