Can't remove Jaheira?

OK, got to the point where Jaheira breaks with the Harpers. We then finished off the campaign against the slavers, Then I tried to reform the party ... wanted to use an evil crew for a bit ... and had no problem with everybody else; told them just to wait at the CC. However, when I removed Jaheira, she got all upset and walked off, apparently for good, saying that she doubted we would meet again.

Was she just being overly dramatic, and is actually waiting somewhere, or is there simply a period of time where I can't remove her at all? Note: Rep at that point was decent at 14.

It's the latter. You've reached the point where removing her is not possible anymore without her leaving the game world.

You can turn her to stone or imprison her. if you want to temporarily boot her.

I was pretty sure from my first play through that once the Harper Quest was done ... which takes a hella long time ... she could safely be removed.

OK, last question. At what Rep will she "break" and leave the party? I have a pretty obnoxious crew (Korgan, Viconia, Hexxat, Edwin) and am currently doing Hexxat's first quest, and she's not happy about a vampire in the party. I was planning on recruiting Dorn next; she's just gonna love HIS quest.

Consider looking up the Reputation table in the PDF manual. Neutral companions will leave at Reputation 1.

I think that after the Harper quest is done you cannot remove her. I see that you remember otherwise but maybe its changed?

One other thing, at some point in the romance/questline you get a reputation check from her and I think it needs to be above 16. I don't know if the romance/questline just hangs and she stays but it doesn't advance or if she walks. You can google Jaheria Romance and there are step by step guides to what needs to be done...sometimes just screwing up a dialog can hang the whole thing. So if you are trying to complete the quest, save often. Also, when Elminster shows up, make sure your Thief is both hasted and has a high Pick Pockets score, pick his pockets multiple times for some goodies including a Ring of Protection +2 and Cloak of Protection +2, which effectively doubles the number of these in the game. You have to be hasted to keep up with him because he's walking away and you need to do it 5 or 6 times to get everything.

After the Harper Quest and Romance is done you can remove her...I usually do this when I don't want to take her all the way to the end of ToB. I've done it both ways.

I'm not doing any romance, since MyChar this time around is female. I seem to have the choice of romancing Dorn or Hexxat, though.

But even when not romancing her, I eventually get a rep check and need a 16? Why on earth should that be? She's neutral, for heaven's sake!

If you complete her questline and are NOT in a romance with here you need a REP >15 to get a harper pin for Jahiera.

if you ARE romancing her you get the pin if REP > 10

Elminster apparently isn't neutral *Scans wiki* Can't get his allignment, his godess is lawful neutral.

always found harpers were 'technically neutral' but always sticking their noses into places that generally get you positive rep like freeing slaves/hunting slavers.

Well I was pretty close...the romance and harper quest get all tangled up and I've never completed just the Harper quest.

Who knows why they put it in, but it's there, I guess I was off a point on the value though. Also, she may be neutral but she won't tolerate outright evil acts in many cases, though she tolerates a slew of good ones...not so neutral sounding,
