What happened to Garren?

So I did the whole Firkraag thing, killed Firky and rescued Garren's child and went back to Garren's cabin, but he is nowhere to be found. his kid is there and says thanks, but thats it My journal still has the 'Rescue Garren's Child' and 'Journey to Windspear Hills' quests active. I think theyre waiting for me to speak with Garren to resolve, but I cant find him. Anyone have any ideas?

Sometimes its not worth it, and you just spawn him back in with the console.

then if the other garren shows up you make them fight so that only the true garren remains.

It's all good now. I ended up just logging out for a couple of days, then when I played again, I went back to his cabin and at first it was just the kid, but then Garrne appeared and I was able to finish the quest. Thanks the the responsed though.
