Is it alright to behave good with evil companions?
Do they get much annoyed? Is there like a penalty? i.e. no companion quest or romance break etc?

Evil companions will leave if your reputation gets too high, your leaders charisima score also influences this. Some characters may leave or come in conflict with other characers as well.

So if my reputation is high but not high enough to make them leave, it doesn't rly matter? Other then the complaint?

Keep your reputation nuetral and everyones happy. Whats weird however, is if you just start murdering people like an evil bastard, even your evil party members will attack you rather than join you.

There's a fine table about that on page 44 of the latest Adventurer's Guide:

I find playing as mostly evil party in enjoyable if you have the correct party members . If you are going to have neutral or good charaters in the group it best to choose wise your party member wisely if playing as a evil group. For certain good or neutral charater they will stay with you if you are on good terms with them even if your reputation is close a villian level . This why even in this game and in equvient D&D version table top game Lawful Evil is the best one ofthe best evils alignment to go with playing with good or neutral charaters . This is assuming you and them can get along well enough.

Well I ran the opposite way.. I always loved Viconia but admired keldorn. Both favorite Chars of me, so I took both of them. After maaaaaanny ours played ....accomplished more than half of the game...ONCE I wasnt able to charm and calm them down, their argueing became a FIGHT.
All ended in an EPIC BATTLE between Viconia and Keldorn. Viconia was able to cast lvl 7 spells and Keldorn was running Carsomir (?) +5 Holy defender. Just an awesome unpredictable end of these intense affair on the edge. This is one thing why I still love this game. :)

When playing a good character I prefer completing evil companion quests first before my reputation would get 'too high' and they'd no longer want to be in my party.

Note that from a role playing perspective you probably don't want to spend too much time with these people in your party in the first place. A Paladin in particular would want absolutely nothing to do with a character like Dorn or Hexxat and would likely attack them on sight let alone invite them into the party.

@ dogmeat viconia killed keldorn..didnt expected that. since keldorn had awsome saves and about 60% spellresistence. That was a heartstopping moment. ^^
