Barbarian vs Berserker rage
So the barbarian rage doesn't protect against imprisonment while the berserker rage doesn't protect against stun, is that correct?

Berserker is immune to charm, confusion, fear, feeblemind, hold, imprisonment, maze, sleep and level drain and suffers a penalty after the rage.
Barbarian is immune to Charm, Fear, Hold, Maze, Stun, Sleep, Level-Drain (on top of his +4 STR/CON and -2 AC Penalty) and doesn't suffer from a penalty afterwards.

the zerker also gets +2 dmg/thaco/ac bonus. but suffers a -2 dmg/thaco/ac fautiege penalty afterwards. i personally would go for the barb over the zerker, the barb gets a passive 20% phsyical dmg reduction, and isnt fatigued immediatly after using its key ability. it means you can use the barbs rage more often without fear of the negative penalties, there as the zerkers rage will be much more situational, and only to counter specific enemies. frankly id say take the barb and get a cleric that later can cast chaotic commands and youll be golden.

the barbs going to suffer from a -2 penalty to ac from its rage, as well as only being able to use splint. so it will get hit more, but it will take more hits to kill it because of its passive resistance. also the +4 str and con bonus would give it a massive thaco/dmg boost on hits, and 4 con would likely easily put it over the 20 con passive hp recovery. it wont be a ton but it will proibly help. roll either as a half orc and u can prolly get them to natual 20 just with the tome in bg1.

the barb is more of an off tank with its resistance than a primary. the zerker would be more of a primary tank because of its superior ac due to plate, and the fact that it doesnt lose another 2 ac for using rage. either way you choose, enjoy.

The Berserker's rage penalties wear off pretty soon after he rages, 30 seconds, during which time he suffers a -2 penalty to damage THAC0 and AC and cannot rage again.

The Barbs have a chance of going Berserk (as in attacking their own party like Minsc).

Berserkers can Dual Class, Barbarians can't

Barbarians get DR that stacks with Hardiness (80% Total DR at max level), but they can't do better than specialization or wear good armor.

Berserkers can't get higher than proficiency in ranged weapons (but they can get GM in daggers, axes and warhammers, which can all be thrown so it isn't a big deal).

i take back what i said then. windigo has won me over to team zerker. didnt realize that the fatigue wore off so fast, or that barbs rage could have them attacking allies. when it came down to a front line fighter i normally go with a dwarven defender over barb for a tank, and instead of a zerker, i have a swash that does my melee dps. paladin is handling my off-tanking, and a cleric/ranger to kinda fill any roll i need, off-tank, melee dps, or healer.
