Vancouver endings (spoilers)
OK burned through the campaign and end up with three possible endings.
1. Kill the Government.
2. Surrender to the Government.
3. Blow ourselves up.

According to the discussion forum you can cure yourself but I've seen two different versions.
1. Research the purple berries whose options pops up at some point.
2.Have all three cure research aspects (including the monkey blood which is a Guide-dang-it series of quests that I haven't pulled off yet) and the 'true cure' research will activate.

How do you get the true cure then?

Thanks. Time to farm some missions then.

At what point did I lock out the true cure option? I've got "Omegazombism" and while I'm researching the purple berries, there seems to be no good option. Seems that I'm destined to go blooey regardless.

Any hints on how I can avoid the bad endings and get to the good one. I mean, I'm playing on easy... am *VERY* disappointed that no matter what I try, my main character dies and her entire faction ends up being OmegaZombies.

You know i don't want to sound 'salty' but whats the "purple berries" research? i know there is an event about a guy that finds some berries that look purple and "researching" them to know it's eatable or not... surely you are not refering to that?

Locking out of the true ending is only possible if you chase Jesse away when he appears and talks to you OR you do not have the 3 research parts you need while talking with jesse.

To make jesse appear, you need to have access to the "blow it all up" mission which appears after you have taken most of the governemnts base.

The berries that appear earlier in the game, which are either edible, medicinal or poison, and you have to research to find out which, are different.

The purple berries that show up in Vancouver are given to you by Jesse *after* he shows up and you've started turning into OmegaZombies, and you start researching that to find the *true* cure, but for some reason everything implodes in one way or another before I can get that research completed, so I met Jesse in Vancouver, and he looked over all my 3 research parts again, *and* he gives me the purple berries to research for the "true cure", but I'm *still* not getting a good ending. I still get only horrible endings. {sigh!}

*** I FIGURED IT OUT ***

It took multiple saves, documenting what was happening, and counting days.

The reason that I wasn't getting the "good ending" was that I didn't have enough engineers. :) So I went back to a save from just before I defeated the government, and retrained *EVERYONE* except the 6 or 8 soldiers who were attacking the the government, into engineers, then put *everyone* to work on research as soon as Jesse shows up and give you the purple berries.

As far as I can figure out, you have *5 days* to research the cure and cure yourself to get the good ending, so you have to get that research time down to less than 5 days to get the good ending.

O_o that berry 'part' is compleetly unknown to me.

Jesse gave me "a plant" that leads to "research jesse's plant" it can take arround 50 days to research if you have only a few engineers but stacking them up can easily cut that down to 20 or less. I researched it without issues and got the good ending.

Huh! Interesting.
I do probably *mean* "purple plant' rather than purple berries. But I had less than 5 days to research, and if I didn't complete it in that amount of time, I would get a bad ending. Wonder what the factors are on that.

That's how it was for me too. It definitely took me longer than 5 days, more like 15.
Maybe the important factor is how long your save game is allready going, I don't know.

Is there a set time Jesse shows up? I obtained and handed over to him the 3 research objectives in the previous level, but I'm still waiting for him to show up in vancouver. Is there something more I have to do to make him show up or do I just have to keep waiting?

I still don't understand monkey blood. It involves Gustav having a cricket bat for sale? (Why on earth would that make any difference?) Or it involves (supposedly) someone coming to your gates and asking for an ice cream, which you can only satisfy by having an 8-12 you (or your erstwhile redecorators) haven't converted into something useful ages ago -- again, why on earth?

It would seem like you would find it left behind after Gretchen leaves (since... well...) but her leaving doesn't seem to really make a whit of difference. She shows up, flips out, leaves. Bye Feli-- I mean, Gretchen.

For the perfect end, with the monkey blood quest, see this thread:

To make jesse appear, capture territory from the governement, eventually one of those tiles will be a governement bunker (an event will popup) basicly it's a little event you call out the senator and at the end you ether submit to her or run away. After you run away you got the choice of blowing up the city through a mission that appears on the building that triggered the event. Basicly, if you get that event, jesse will appear 1 or 2 days later.
