Do their quest until they talk about Rufus's Dad House. you must have the date from that house.
Or was the story mode added after the first release?
Monkey blood section is finished. Now I need to play the end and put it in my guide, too.

*SPOILER ALERT*
There are 4 endings(that I know of)
a. The Zed Ending (basically destroy The Government after they declared a war)
b. Government Ending (surrender to The Government to be their super-soldier army)
c. Nuke Ending (blow up Vancouver using government's on site nuke)
d. True Cure Ending (details below)
To get the True Cure Ending you need the following:
a. Rufus's dad research data
b. European data dump from the government
c. Monkey blood vial
d. Jesse telling you about the purple berry/flower
a. Rufus's dad research data (Wenatchee)
Pretty easy to get, as it is in the storyline. The other faction will come to you to talk about Rufus's dad research.
Go to his house, get the data.
b. European data dump (Penticton)
Not sure about this, but basically being nice to the gov and 1337crew. Eventually Davis will ask you to do some mission,
for me it was some scavenge mission. Turns out the location was looted by "cryptico". Keep being nice to both of them
and refuse to declare war to each other (Also don't tell it was 1337crew that did the looting when you talk to Davis).
Eventually a pop-up will appear from cryptico telling you to meet the 1337crew. Dara will give you a flashdisk to hack
Davis computer. Go to government, you will find a guy named Andy, he has pink hair. Give him the flashdisk telling it is a good game(may require a leader?). He will play it and then go leave the fort. Not sure after this, talk to 1337crew then wait couple of days(?). Go to gov and take back the flashdisk from Andy. Give it to 1337crew to analyze. Then they will hand the data back to you and you can research it in a lab. Go to government again, tell Davis you wont tell anyone about her secret, you can get Andy at this point, may need a leader before talking to Davis to convince her.
c. Monkey Blood vial
For detailed walk just go to rebuild*gamepedia*com/Monkey_Blood (replace * with .)
Basically it require a few things:
- a city that is NOT Vancouver or Abbotsford (I use Chilliwack)
- a Mall or Mega Mall with loot(scavenge-able) It must not be reclaimed by any fortress, including your own. Reclaim tiles next to it before other factions can expand into it; do not Scavenge it until directed. I basically reclaimed the area surrounding it to prevent other faction from stealing it.

- An 8-12 mart in your fortress OR that you can reclaim OR a Cricket Bat*
- Survivor(s) that you are willing to injure

*The 8-12 Mart
If you do NOT have a Cricket Bat, then you need an 8-12. There is a low-probability event that someone will show up at your fortress asking for ice cream. If you have an 8-12 Mart, then you can give the person ice cream and the person will give you a Cricket Bat. Reclaiming an 8-12 Mart before this event tries to occur should be a priority.
If you scavenged a Cricket Bat earlier in the same city, or you scavenged it in a previous city and brought the Cricket Bat with you to the current city, then skip this part

FIRST STAGE EVENTS
+Trashy Romance Novels (This one takes too much time, do this first)
Build/Reclaim 5 or more Schools. After you built City Hall, keep talking to factions that you are not allied with. There's a chance they will recognize your schools and willing to donate books to you. Choose the Fiction books (NOT the Non-Fiction books).
+Zombie Mob Newspaper
A bit tricky, send a group of survivors. It must include an active Engineer, not your character or Soldiers(or else) with skill levels in Engineering and people with the MacGyver Perk may not suffice.
Need a mob that spawned at least 2 tiles from your fortress. I'm no good explaining, here's a diagram instead:

W=fort walls. S=survivors Z=Zombie mobs. In here the zombie will attempt to go to the wall through your survivors and triggering the event. TILE IN S MUST NOT BE RECLAIMED. In my play, the tile "S" standing in is a field/forest so they can stay there indefinitely hunting/chopping woods waiting for the mob to come. To lure a mob try using a zombie bait. Mix and match to ensure the mod pass through your survivor during their walk to wall.
You will get the newspaper. Read read read.
+Sell Cricket Bat to Guztav
[SAVE BEFORE DOING THIS] Sell/give the cricket bat you got earlier to Guztav. Make sure he said "ze game of ze gentle men" or something similar in the after-trade screen. He will mention a doctor that also love cricket. If not reload and try again. Some say you must not use NPC with Negotiator perk, untested by me though.
+Mall Pet Store
Scavenge the Mall you saved earlier, need at least lv 10 scavenger. He must not have lv 10 scavenging when without any equipment. In my play I use a lv 7-8 scavenger(without any equipment) and give him scavenging items that increase his skill to 10. The event text will say that the scavenger finished the mission early and has time to do something else. Choose to go to the Pet Store.
SECOND STAGE EVENTS
+Gretchen
Research the signpost now and have one more room for a survivor. Eventually a survivor named Gretchen will arrive. She has blond hair and wear dustmask. Her complete name is Isa Gretchen van Nooten.
+Injure a survivor
Simple isn't? Just send a survivor to dangerous mission (RED) until he/she injured. There's a chance that while the survivor recovering, Gretchen will tell you that the injured has been infected and die. If this does not trigger, injure another survivor.
+Gretchen's Departure
After some time (40 days or so?) Gretchen will have a fight with a survivor (The text says that Gretchen and the survivor were cleaning a storeroom, the survivor killed a rat, and Gretchen went berserk.) She will leave no matter what you say.
THIRD STAGE EVENTS
If all of the above has occurred, then you should now scavenge the motel (with loot) that you set aside. Again, the motel must have loot and must not be in any fortress, not even your own. It can be adjacent to your fortress, it can be surrounded by your fortress, but you must NOT have completed a Reclaim mission on the motel.
Upon scavenging the motel, you will be directed to a mission in a random Hospital outside your fortress. If no such Hospital exists, then the game will alter the map and create a Hospital for the mission on the edge of the city. The event options for the hospital just have you searching through the rooms that had an I.G.v.N.
Once the Hospital mission is complete, you will then be directed to a mission in a random School outside your fortress. If no such school exists, then the game will alter the map and create a School for the mission on the edge of the city. Regardless of what dialog options you choose, you will obtain the vial of Monkey Blood. It is unknown whether or not letting Gretchen kill herself has any follow-on effects further along in Story Mode.

NEXT STEP
ABBOTSFORD
Follow the storyline here. Meet with Pharmacist, ally with them( Not necessary have to help them sell the bath salts) by trading, etc. Also try to ally with The Rotten. Talk to Jesse The Rotten and he'll ask to share the research. Give them the Rufus's dad data, government data and monkey blood. Meet with Pharmacist, tell the truth, and finally research the cure. The text will say the cure will make human immune and kill the zombie.
Once the cure finished, Jesse will ask you the cure for themselves. You can say "Don't do it" which prevent them from permanently dead or give it to them and they died. Jesse will stay alive no matter what( he wont take the cure), and say he will embark on a journey to wander in a dessert.
VANCOUVER
DISTRIBUTE THE CURE! Each faction will eventually asked for a vaccine sample (if not enough sample make more at workshop). And you will slowly seeing hallucination(scared the hell out of me) and bloods on the journal and word like "KILL", "DEVOUR" etc as you distribute the cure.
After the Government kidnap you and told the truth of the "cure" you got from Chuck(you son of a poop!) just don't attack them. I think the key is you must keep your sanity while defending the fort. Do NOT attempt to devour someone or pick option that says either kill or let go of your sanity (or something). Just keep defending and meditating.
I'm not sure whether you should attack the gov or not, I did. I attacked them after they declare a war until the nuke option appeared (I'm didn't completely annihilated them, spared a building or two) then I holed up in my fort, waiting.
Eventually the society will break down: faction burning down and tries to attack you, your team mate killed people and bring back souvenirs. In that case I immediately kicked that team mate out of the fort . Not sure you should do that though.
Waiting waiting...
It was on day 130+ (I think) when I realized to look at the calendar it was day 140. Jesse will come and telling you his heart moving experience. He is in the desert then saved by a woman who gave him a tea made of some purple flower/berry. He realized that his heart starts to beat again and say that it might be a cure. He gave the purple plants to you and you should research it. Finished! Now you are fully immune and no creepy hallucination(seriously, that thing is too spoopy for me).
Now, begin to alliance/re-alliance other faction. Or you can kill them too, as I did with "pig" farmer and the judgement gang. Eventually the Gov will offer peace(yeah right) and offer to spread the cure. Either accept or KILL THEM! Alliance with all faction, give some cure sample to them(not sure, I give each of them some via barter) and FINALLY you can leave via City Hall.
DONE! COMPLETE! NO MORE SLEEPLESS NIGHT!
Well that was it. Not sure if I wrote 'em correct but it should give you the overview of what to do. Please note I played this on easy (and challenging on Cheesewack/Chilliwack/Chilli-somethinh) so some differences might happen! Also sorry for the typos, English not my native tongue, Indonesia is :P
