Reclaiming buildings with survivors
When you reclaim a building that contains food or materials, the food or materials remains in the building and can be scavenged at a later date.

But when you reclaim a building that contains a survivor, the survivore - naturally enough - disappears.

I seem to recall reading that in Rebuild 2 the survivor isn't actually gone from the map, they just move on to a different building. Is that also the case in Rebuild 3? Or is the survivor gone forever?

Obviously it makes a big difference. If the former is the case then in the early days of a level if you've not got room for any more survivors you can reclaim an apartment or suburb containing one in order to make room and if they've just moved on you can still recruit them later. However, if reclaiming their hideout makes them disappear permanently then it's not worth doing and you need to hold off until you can make room for them and then recruit them before you reclaim the building.

They are gone forever. they don't appear later or ask to join. Same thing when ou use explosives on a building containing survivors,it's gone after

Well if you use explosives on a building with people inside, you should expect them to be gone forever >.>

I always found it odd, though, that survivors always seemed to vanish if you reclaimed a building they were living in.

Well, that's why I was asking. I was pretty sure that in Rebuild 2 they didn't disappear from the map, but moved to a different unreclaimed building instead (unless there weren't any left for them to go to).

I got that information from a website guide rather than first hand, so it may not be accurate though.

Not sure how you guys get the impression the survivor is gone. For me they always move to the unclaimed building next to it. They will only disapear if they 'can't' move to another building. Example: last building in a corner and gets claimed.

Unless this got somehow changed recently, they don't disapear, just need to becarefull in 'certain' situations.

The survivors stay on the map. In fact, they only move 1 building over if there is an unclaimed building that doesn't have survivors yet. I noticed this really, really quickly. But I guess if you don't scout furhter than 1 block outside your wall you can't see that.
IF THEY ARE SURROUNDED by reclaimed forts or by unclaimed tiles with survivors already on it, they disappear when you take their building.
